Rear Tow hook
Has anyone installed a rear tow hook or tow strap? Where did you mount it? Got pics?

I recently did one on my 19 ZL1 1LE located behind the license plate.

I'm about to install a rear tow hook, hopefully next week. Doesn't seem too complicated.

The complicated parts are: 1. Not tearing off the spacer between the tail lights. Pull straight back, not up. 2. Choosing a location that does not interfere with a wiring harness or airbag sensor. 3. Creating a good point of reference for drilling the bumper cover. I suggest using the bumper centerline and the ground. 4. Not scratching the bumper with multiple on/offs for measurement. I suggest using a body panel work stand like this one from Eastwood. Take your time and a second set of hands is helpful. Link to padded workstand: https://www.eastwood.com/750lb-work-stand.html

Lining it up to drill the hole in the bumper was the part I was concerned about, ya only get one shot at it. I didn't think about making reference points, that's a great idea. |
