I will try it again when I can.

And you're going into the drive settings and making sure the steering says tour is selected BEFORE you go into PTM?

Then you change steering settings while in PTM and driving down the road and move the car from lane to lane? Safely of course.

Just strange that some of us can change the settings in PTM while others says it goes to track mode no matter what is selected.

Maybe they have a BCM/ CCM/ or even a HIM memory retain issue... In which case that's not good.

Old thread, but since I stumbled on this and tested it out myself, I thought I would post my finding for the next weary traveler:

When you set your steering resistance to tour in the user settings, it lightens the steering across all traditional drive modes. In PTM modes, my testing yielded no discernible difference in Sport 1, a bit more resistance in Sport 2, a lot more resistance in Race.

Sport 1 and Sport 2 could be identical with other factors increasing the steering resistance. Sport 2 to Race however, is a massive difference.

Interesting, Tour steering mode feels the same across all PTM modes and with everything fully off on my 2017 SS 1LE.

Look at post #16. When you're in any PTM mode, the steering is set to track by default and with auto selected BUT...... if you have something else selected in the vehicle settings then that will override the PTM setting. There should be zero differences in the steering feel between any of the PTM modes. Tour should feel like tour, sport like sport and track like track.

I had raced my car once in PTM Sport 2 once with the suspension and steering set to tour. I wondered why it felt weird and noticed this after that session.

My experience mirrors RTP...when in PTM mode (at lease in race) it overrides manually-selected vehicle settings for suspension/steering. I had manually selected Tour suspension and Tour steering, but the steering/suspension definitely were in track mode.

I've never experienced steering mode changes beyond my default selection at the radio. Track is significantly more effort. I typically run my steering in tour as I like a lighter feel. I've tried Track steering and it just adds hand fatigue and IMHO offers nothing as far as better feedback.

Realize, fellas, that increased tire loading, like what you would feel at the track or autox, will feedback into the steering wheel. So if you are in tour and running hard at the track, effort will increase due to the effect of castor and increased tire loading. Toe and camber selection can also effect the forces off center. The alignment spec effect is independent of your radio or Mode selection.
