I have been looking for a set of used oem ZL1 rims. I have noticed that some of the factory ZL1 wheels (non-1le) look darker than others. It’s seems like the 2017-2018 look darker, more charcoal and some newer ones look lighter, more silver. I wonder if brake dust has stained some of the older cars? Has anyone else noticed this?

So, as having owned two (2018 and 2023) they are in fact the same color. The 1LE's got black wheels, and the standard ZL1s got the current "After Midnight Metallic".

There are clone wheels in chrome, black, and I believe OEM coloring. If you're not going to track them, I would recommend the clones as the OEM wheels new are like 4k..(forged wheels).

The chrome ones look damn nice on a black/red/dark blue car....


The OEM wheels are still pricey even used, because most know they're worth good money. You'll be fortunate if you find any real OEM wheels for under $2k from a reliable location...

There are some differences.
I purchased a new OEM rim from a GM dealer.
Seems like different shades out there.
Do a search for my previous post I made a few months ago.

There’s definitely some validity here. Reason being, I was at a cars & coffee last month and parked next to a 2023 ZL1. While there, it was noticed that my wheels are a darker shade than his. I wouldn’t have thought that was the case had I not seen it for myself. However, I can’t say if it’s only affecting the 17-18 years. Since the OEM wheels are produced overseas, it’s not unimaginable to consider a slight change was made to the coating. Just my $0.02

There are almost always variations from batch to batch with all types of manufacturing. If a particular item always came out exactly the same, it would be exceptional, not typical.

Take a look.
My ZL1 is a 2019.
My car came with the darker "version".
Thankfully, the dealer did give me a full refund.

I’m in Virginia and I have 2 full sets of oem wheels. One set has OEM tires with about 5000 miles (half tread) and the other set has brand new tires (never been on the car). I’d sell one set at a great price if you come and get them or if we can meet somewhere to exchange. I am not interested in trying to package and mail them (too much hassle and expensive).

They are the same color.

Wow that is what I was wondering. Officially they are are all the same color but definitely some variation. Thanks for the photo.

No problem.
Hopefully this will make those looking for a replacement will be aware of the different shades.
