Keyhole cover stuck on
So today I realized I did not know how to open the door when the fob dies. I looked up the procedure and was able to get the keyhole cover removed, unlock the car, etc. No problem.
Well, when I went to reinstall, I guess I was being a dumba$$ and reinstalled it incorrectly. Now the rear portion of the keyhole cover does not seat down and I can no longer remove the cover: it's stuck by whatever pin or mechanism holds it in on the forward part of the cover. Any idea how I can correct this? Thanks! |

Figured it out. The right way to reinstall it is to press the rear clips on first. The solution to getting it off was to press as hard as I could on the rear part of the cover while prying out with the key.

With no access to the manual I ended up breaking a tab when this happened to me a few months ago. It went back on but now it's loose. IIRC a new one was around $60, unpainted. Oh well, might need to find a mosaic black to test drive, lol.

Same thing happened to me when I first tried the physical key, and the "fix" was the same, after a tirade of expletives, of course. Fragile design.

So greatful for OP and their fix for getting it off. I had to pick up the car today since my SO had to leave out of town for work, to then find out the backup fob was dead. Got the cover off but then couldnt get it back on correctly with the back end sticking out a little. I would have never figured that out myself and my SO for sure would have come home thinking I messed up the car!
