Steering Wheel

Anyone else think the steering wheel is rather…slim? I mean comparing it to bmw the difference is massive but even say on my last car which was a 2022 Golf R. The steering wheel just felt chunkier, on the Camaro it doesn’t feel bad but is this Alcantara wheel slimmer then leather? I remember my 2017 2SS felt different, maybe it’s just me? What do you guys think?

I agree, it's very thin. I took the cheap route and "fixed" it with a leather/fake carbon fiber wheel cover, but aftermarket steering wheels are also much chunkier, so it isn't just you seeing the stock wheel this way.

Yes it seems thin when car is new but once the alcantara starts wearing down it is thicker. That’s the way it has been in my ZL1 so far. Yes you are right about the difference between the SS and ZL1 at least compared to the 2016 2SS I used to own.

What brand is the Steering wheel cover if you dont mind. I just cleaned my Alcantara today and it was filthy even though I take care to wash my hands good before driving. It is a little thin too. Id like to try one.

Here's a link - I bought one recently after Arpad had posted about it in another thread. It is the 15" D-shaped style. Working fine so far for me, and added protection from the sun for my daily driver...

By the way, these seem to be a regularly returned item (people order them and it doesn't fit their application?) On account of that I was able to get a half-priced one by looking at the Amazon Warehouse "used" options. The one I got was like new, just without the original packaging.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks the wheel is thin, I’ll def be looking into one of those wheel covers. I also think it’ll help maintain the Alcantara longer, that being said what is the best way to clean the wheel? I make sure to wash my hands very well always before driving but naturally we sweat so I’m sure it’ll still pick up oils from our hands while we’re driving, especially when we’re REALLY driving lol
