Watching the building video's, all the torque of bolts studs , are done with the computer aided automated torque wrench tools, looks like not much is left to the engine builder . They get a product that is very consistent between the assemblers and documented.

This is true, I've seen them in action when I worked at the GM plants in Janesville WI & Pontiac MI. One of the most amazing tools was a big one that tightened & torqued all of the lugnuts at the same time. I can't remember if the operator started them by hand or the machine did the entire operation. Wouldn't be surprised if the machine did the entire operation, otherwise the union would have filed a grievance.
