It's part of the equation to what you will need to hook out of the hole hence why I suggested it in your other thread.

I didn't notice you mentioning it. As you mentioned on Josh's thread, which I also had never seen, why not just limit torque per gear in the trans tune?

Magnuson used to do something similar to the smooth boost, they put a little restrictor in the hose on the actuator to keep it from hitting so hard when you went wide open, helps on the street but not at the track. I don't think they do that anymore.

Can we try a 3rd gear launch tune?

Have you heard of anyone trying it with the A10?

It is on our list to try with a different converter. It will require a substantial amount of power to beat a 2nd gear launch is our expectation, so the converter is set to stall up to ~3500.
We have no issue launching to a 1.20 60' in 2nd. A 3rd gear launch will be strictly to cut the time to shift and to extend the launch gear duration before needing to shift. It can be difficult to nail the 2-3 shift smoothly with how fast it comes and the torque management cut. This could be contributing to why your tires are breaking loose also. If you hear my in car videos you'll hear how it's the only shift that isn't as smooth as the rest. I think you can view this even if you don't use IG. https://www.instagram.com/p/CkQt22djQ24/ This is a 1.20 60', but you can actually see the tire break loose slightly on the 2-3 shift. The rest of the pass wasn't great for other reasons. Haha. It only made ~1,100 RWHP then and weighed about 3900 lbs. https://www.instagram.com/p/CeMz34aL5QU/

Launching in 3rd would lower the output torque by approx. 25%, which might workout.
Are you running a 15" conversion? Quote:

Yes. My best 60' with 17's was a 1.32, but the car also only made 920 RWHP and was over 4k lbs then. Launched in 1st gear back then also.

Jason has run 8.08@176 since he posted last. He would have run in the 7s if his 60ft time would have been as quick as his 8.05 pass. I think that 60' was like 1.18 and the 8.08 was 1.30. Probably would have ran 7.95 or so.

Based on the rule of doubling 60' ET gains at 1320', the 8.08 would have been a 7.85. The 8.08 was a 1.315 60' and the 8.05 was 1.177. It's like the car is teasing me. Lol
