ZL1 1LE - Battery replacement options
Hello! I’m looking for a replacement battery for my 6th gen ZL1 1LE 10A.
Has anyone used Bosch S5 A04 batteries? Thank you in advance for your support and comments |

The Bosch unit you mentioned will be perfect, if it's easier to source than the OEM ACDelco battery. (Heck, it even explicitly supports regenerative braking, although certainly not in the Camaro
.)The Antigravity part mentioned above would save you 30-ish pounds of weight, but it's much more expensive and I wouldn't want to use a lithium ion battery at 120+ °F (and who knows how hot the trunk actually gets when it's that hot outside), just out of precaution. Your call

Anyone look at the Braille lithium batteries? I have one in my GTI and it works well. Granted it only cranks half the cylinders and a third the displacement of the Camaro but it is great in all but the coldest weather. Only weighs 7-8lbs IIRC.
Do you have to change any programming in the cars charging cycle or anything like that when switching to lithium? I had the “charging coding" on my VW changed when I swapped batteries.

What amperage does ours come with stock? And damn you were right about the antigravity being expensive! And how do they hold up to being plugged in during winter months or when the car sits for awhile? Same as OEM?

I got my AntiGravity in July of 2020 and haven't had any issues, so I definitely recommend them if you want to save some weight.

Depends on which model of AG battery you get, some have more cranking amps than others, the more cranking amps you get, the heavier the battery. That being said, if the car sits for a few months it will probably still die if you don't start the vehicle or use a tender.

Any H6 / Group 48 AGM battery will work. The OEM battery is 700 CCA so I'd shoot for something with that much cold cranking power or more.
I went with the Antigravity 40Ah and an Optimate Lithium 4s 6A. Been really happy with the LiFePo4 battery. It's 2-2.5x the cost of an AGM battery, but expected life is 10+ years. And it's significantly lighter.

What AH option did y’all go for on the Antigravity batteries?

40amp hours for me. Seemed like the best compromise between weight savings and capacity. Last edited by Z OH 6; 03-29-2023 at 07:42 PM. |

I did 24 for the weight savings and it has 1k CA. It does say race only on their site, but that’s mostly what I do. Ok, that’s all I do… lol
