According to your avatar picture and your profile, you have a 2017 ZL-1. So you will feel a slight loss of power if you go with a '23 2SS. It's up to you if it's worth it for a newer vehicle...

Yep sold the 17 ZL1, oil pump worries + mods + tuning figured when Carvana offed me 60K with 17K on the clock I would take it. Used the cash input to pay all depts...

So any negatives on the 23 SS models specifically?

Just asking. TIA

No negatives, good solid car, I would at least get NPP (better sound plus the quad pipes)...

The power downgrade will be 200 hp, not exactly minor. The other reason I personally wouldn't do it is because the new SS has very few advantages over the older ZL1, only the rear view mirror camera and maybe nicer looking maps if you buy the onboard nav that few seem to favor anyway... the old ZL1 still has a better engine, powertrain and suspension (and I will not go into the subjective design/look argument here).

I have a ‘22 2SS and love it. If I were going to the track I would have gotten a ZL1 but for around town and even on trips it has plenty of ponies.

It's interesting you say that. I think the SS has plenty of power for the street AND the track. At the track, I can only see the extra power being of use on long straight aways, as everywhere else (short straights, long corners, etc) you won't be able put all the power down and are just paying a weight penalty in the corners. While more speed on the straights is nice, you get used to it pretty quickly.

I’m not saying that you can’t or shouldn’t track an SS. Like you said it has plenty off power and I’m sure works very well on the track. For strictly street use I think the SS has plenty of HP. At a 100 MPH it is hardly breaking a sweat. The SS handles great and the ride is nice. If I were going to track it more than road it I would go for the ZL1. That’s just my opinion of what I would do.

But he already sold his ZL1, so I think he is looking to see if an SS would be a good car for him...
