And as I work in the industry, I have a fairly solid handle on this topic, but if you have good technical (meaning non political) view on EVs I’m happy to hear and discuss them. But your name calling and anger would indicate you don’t.

And to be clear Camaro sales have zero to do with future EVs………unless they make EVs with no rear seat, horrible trunk space and crappy visibility. 😉
they will still be making that car...just changing the name to corvette and charging more for it.but i hope for a reasonably priced 2 door sporty EV some time in the future.it shouldnt cost more to build a 2 door than it does a 4 door, although i can understand that the market might be smaller.

Right now no EV to my knowledge has such a feature implemented. Tesla sends alerts to the car to ask the driver to avoid charging between 4 PM to 9 PM during peak hours in CA, etc. But nothing to actually prevent the person from still charging the car. The closest feature Tesla has to your scenario is when it is busy at a supercharger, it will automatically set the charge limit to 80%. But the owner can override that default charge limit and set it higher.

So possible? Yes, but no such feature has been implemented yet by Tesla or any OEM.
Agreed. I charge at home so unless there is some software update that gets pushed to control charging times, levels, etc. there is no way to enforce this.

One thing you can do is schedule window of time to charge. For example, you can plug in and then set the charge schedule such that you leave with 80% charge by 7:30am. The computer figures it out and start charging at say 5am so that it is topped off by 7:30am.

It gets a little more interesting if you own more than one EV. You could install multiple dedicated circuits but what many folks do is connect multiple Tesla Wall Connectors together using a single circuit. This enables you to charge both EVs simultaneously while sharing the same circuit. You just cut your charge rate in half. When one car is done it automatically diverts the amps to the other and increases the charge rate.

This will eventually come but not until much later. The GR86/BRZ and Miatas are pretty efficient 4 bangers so they are not being banned as quickly as our beloved V8s.

Those cars in particular need to be lightweight or you defeat the whole point of having them. I think they will wait until the technology allows for smaller batteries with enough usable range or look into Hybrid technology to they can keep some of the sports car noise characteristics but add some electrification with a smaller battery. The weight will go up a bit but the instant torque from the electric motor could offset it. Who knows...

Lithium ion is not the only type of battery that can be used.

Coal miners help push tourists’ dead electric car in Tucker County

Quote:
Because the vehicle was plastic underneath, there was no way to tow it, so a group of miners decided to push it. “So here are 5 coal miners pushing a battery car to the coal mine to charge up.” You could even see mounds of coal in the background while the vehicle was charging.
Quote:
Smith said that one of the group even dropped off a “Friend of Coal” license plate before he headed back home.

So normally when you run out of gas and a stranger provides you some gas or gives you a ride to the gas station, you obviously pay for the gas and possibly the ride/help.

What is the proper etiquette in this situation? Do you compensate the guys that did the pushing? Do you pay someone for the electricity and if so, who?
Do you take the opportunity to educate the miners on how they are doing the devil's work and how they should vote in the next election?

I am a 1955 model, (great year for chevy), and have owned nothing but chevy & 1 olds cutlass in my lifetime. I will not buy any ev unless forced to by our dud government if I even live that long. Current vehicles: 2020 Equinox, 2017 Camaro, 2002 Impala, all bought new and 1979 L48 Corvette bought in 1987 with 20K on it. Was my daily driver for several years and now has approx. 110 K. Boy, that model's cruise control transducers love to break speedo cables! BTW, vette has original powertrain, never gone into engine, auto trans, or rear. 3 speed 350 hydromatic has never had transmission shutter either!

Most EVs have a tow hook including my Tesla. Some newer EVs can backfeed their battery charge to another EV to help get them to the next charging station. With Tesla they just tow you to the closest charging station.

Just like gas vehicles you should plan accordingly so you don’t run out of energy. But if you do then yes it is polite to compensate those who help. That compensation can come in the form of money or a fresh baked hot apple pie, depending on the neck the woods you live in.

They could've made an electric with a 6.2 in a genset with a small pack that's never separately charged.

In California their Great Governer is asking people with electric cars to not charge them..
Oh wait, in this 100 plus degree time he is also telling the to set their AC's to 78° plus.

In Texas we run ours below 70° Where our Governer dont tell us what to do..
