On naming. Whens the last time the newest Corvette has been referred to as the stingray? Yes yes I know it is called that but none of my paper work or manual or the car itself has the words stingray anywhere on it. and no video or review calls it that. Its always the C8 and its trim 1lt 2lt 3lt and its package z51. The new one is Z06. How many Z cars does Chevy make? Z71, Z72, ZR1,Z28,Z51,ZR2,Z24, SS, RS and so on... 1LE packs on and on... Maybe new cool names would help. Hennessey gets it. They name their Builds cool names. I mean the Camaro exorcist or resurrection who doesn't want that car LOL. When you talk to basic non car people saying what Chevy you own is like spitting out a jumble of letters and numbers. At least they aint as bad a German car companies. All their cars are just numbers with a random letter after it. 760i for example. Most times I need a spread sheet to know what Mercedes or BMW im looking at. Hell 80% of dodges success has been attributed to its car naming. |

i've always loved camaros, maybe that's why i've being defensive ``totally agree on random letters as car names being lazy. but still a c8 is a corvette. all attached letters are just packages and options. i call a z06 a corvette, for the general public. |

The general public out there seems to care less if it’s a Camaro, Mustang, Charger/Challenger or whatever brand. I didn’t buy my ZL1 to get attention or comments whether positive or negative as I bought it because I wanted a ZL1. Hell my 1970 VW Beetle gets more attention and comments than any of the Camaros I have owned over the years especially at car shows and cruises. My advice is to drive and enjoy your ZL1 for yourself and don’t be concerned with the other folks out there with their negative comments or non attention to your Camaro!

Camaro's for a long time haven't really been anything special. The 5th gen definitely revitalized the Camaro for a while but then there were/are so many on the road they became very common and not noteworthy anymore.
I started noticing how good the 6th Gen Camaro's looked when they came out but never really payed them much mind. And then out of curiosity I drove one a year ago and then I understood why the 6th gen is so special. As for attention, I have had several people comment on my car at gas stations, supermarket, gun range, etc. how good it looks. And I agree, I love the look of my car. Its a 2017 2SS that is completely blacked out. I added 1LE wheels, ACS Composites side skirts, and GM black tail lights and I think it looks even better now. |

I think a lot of people's opinions are based on the area you live in in relation to what's most common on the street. For instance, the area I live in is dominated by Mustangs and going to most cars shows shows them winning the most. The Camaros in my area seem to just get an honorable mention. I bought my car for me and that's all I care about.

Like most here, experience with my ZL1 has been positive. Crowds stand around it at Cars and Coffee or other car meets, random people at random places stop to take pictures, and it gets a fair share of comments/questions from people at gas stations. I've even had a lady in a minivan while at a stop light do a double take, grab her phone, and take pictures. It gets attention, but not C8/Ferrari/Lambo levels of attention, so it's not annoying. What matters most is I know it's a supercar in Camaro sheet metal.
I like that it is less common as well. At cars and coffee last weekend I was the only 6th gen ZL1 out of about 300-400 cars. I'm not joking when I say there were at least 40 Mustangs there, if not more. There were at least 3 20+ GT500s, and two were CFTPs. Mustangs are a dime a dozen around here and glad I upgraded from my 2018 GT to my ZL1.

I have never had a car get so many positive comments. Especially from the ladies.

This is every car and in my experience the more enthusiast of an owner the more they refer to their car as their gen name. example, bmw owners dont say I have an m3. they will say i have an F80 M3. So the person knows what generation it is. They have no problem selling their cars even tho its just simple numbers, 550, 340i, etc. saying "I have a C8" just saves time if you're talking to anyone who knows cars. they'll know you have the newest gen vette. same with AMG owners w204, w212, etc. zr1, zl1, z51 are just packages the platform is either camaro or corvette which is the name and I doubt any of that impacts sales
