If you cant get in reverse just let the clutch out a little to the gear moves and it will drop right in.

Did anyone figure out why that happens? I have a 2018 v6 ls and for some reason my reverse won't let me get it in some times as well. I'm fully stopped clutch all the way down I can feel it go past the lock out but then it's a wall. This isn't my first manual and this has never happened before but none of my previous cars has been chevy or that new I'm use to the 1990s cars. If anyone knows the answer that would be awesome if not I'll probably be selling it soon nothing but problems with this one.

I’ve almost exclusively driven manuals for the last 20 years - quite a few performance cars from multiple different brands.
I’ve noticed this on almost all of them - you get used to double clutching for reverse. I wouldn’t worry about it. Always seems more apparent when cold. For example - Honda make arguably the best manual transmissions around and they are well known for the reverse crunch |

First of all don't listen to all the SS folks as they have a different transmission with the reverse on the right where is should be. Since with our transmissions the reverse is on the left you have to apply a fair amount of force to get it into reverse so you don't do it accidentally when finding 1st. I find I tend to slap my gear shifter which does the job. Not fully engaging when shifting up into R is normal as you're physically moving a gear to mesh with another where as all the other gears are always meshed. If the teeth on the two gears are misaligned is won't go in. Just slightly ease of the clutch to slightly spin one gear and it should go in.

Hi. Did your problem get resolved. I am having the exact same issue with a 2022 Camaro?

If it doesn't want to go in reverse put in first bump it a little, then it will go easily into reverse. The v6 manual transmission is not the easiest to use , but over time I have come to like it.

My preference is to always park the car in reverse. That takes care of the cold reverse engagement issue for me. The occasional time it happens after that slightly engaging the clutch allows it to pop in as many have noted. I saw the same thing occasionally going into 1st initially but that has gone away with miles.
