I noticed a few months ago my passenger seat started rattling when going over bumps. After some investigation it's definitely the seat track that's closest to the console: I can rattle the seat up and down just with my hand and hear the same noise as when I'm going over the bumps.

The dealership gave me a BS non-answer when I inquired about it.

SURELY the seat is bolted down somewhere, right? If so, SURELY I should be able to access said bolt and tighten it down. Does anyone know how these seats are installed?

It's a 2019 1SS.

Two bolts on the rear side of the seat rails. The front has some protrusions which slide into slots in the floor. To remove seat, you remove the two rear bolts and tilt seat forward until it pops out of the slots. obviously disconnect electrical stuff to get the seat out.

So rattling seat could be loose rear bolt(s) or possibly front not in slot correctly.

Thanks! I will take a look at the rear bolts. I tend to think it's that, rather than them not being inserted correctly in front because the problem developed over time.

My Colorado had the same problem. GM had a recall they had to take out the bolts and slide the front of the seat back in the grove again then reinstall the 2 bolts. So, it does happen your dealer should make a note to GM and if enough are lose they have a recall.

So, if a bolt did come loose I would use some threadlocker for the reinstall. Loctite blue should be fine. This is their "vibration resistant" grade and is easy to remove the bolt if needed. If working in the car put some newspaper down or just be careful not to drip on upholstery or carpet.

If this is the problem I think it would be easy enough to remove the bolts, put the seat back in the grooves, and reinstall the bolts without messing with any of the electronics connected to the seat.

You: I’ll note that I made a complaint about this, and if I get in an accident and my front passenger is injured I’ll make sure to call [insert famous local personal injury lawyer name here] and make sure it’s investigated, thank you.
