I agree with you to a point, and that point is an out of town trip in the car. It's much more problematic to blow a pump far out of town, than down the street from the house. That's why I had mine replaced with a Katech unit, though the pump was fine. I want to go on trips with my wife, and I don't want a problem when I'm far from home.

I understand why you did it, I really never travel that far with my car. Sometimes to work but thats about as far as I go with it. When I decide to mod the car after my warranty expires Ill probably do the same.

Right there with you. Mine goes in next week (finally) for a Katech pump. Only 2700 miles and still running strong. I want to do a bunch more track events and will be taking long drives to the track and back. Want to enjoy the fun and not worry about a pump failure far from home.

Hey mate. Is this the correct part?

https://shop.katechengines.com/produ...sump-oil-pump/

I am going to the US next month. At that price this seems a no brainer... I might buy it and keep it in my storage just in case. Are there any other parts that need to be ordered?

Anything else that needs to be ordered that might be needed when fitting the pump?

Have there been any problems with the cars that have the replacement oil pumps?

If you mean Katech no they are solid. Higher pressure too

Anyone doing significant engine mods should be doing this

Well add me to the list. 2018 ZL1 10 speed, 36,200 miles. Car is at dealership waiting for them to troubleshoot and warranty claim it. In addition to 5 year GM powertrain warranty, I have an aftermarket bumper to bumper too. Build date: August 2017.

Wow, 36k might be a new record. From my reading here, most seem to fail between 12k and 20k miles.
