I have a 19 SS with about 14k on the OEM tires. Need to replace and was wondering if anyone has had issue going with a non run flat tire. Have you put a tire sealant in the trunk or what do you do if you happen to get a flat. This is the first car that I have owned that didn't have a spare. I would like to get some pilot sport 4S but the security of the OEM's has me wavering....need some other people to explain their experiences with me.

I don't have run flats. I have the Continental Extreme Contact All Seasons. I also don't have anything in the trunk. I have a phone and AAA. I thought about putting something in the trunk just never got around to it. I've been driving all my life and have never been stuck on the side of the road from a flat, so I suppose I just don't worry about it to much. If it happens it happens.

Just dont get flat tires enough to worry about it. Otherwise carry around one of those flat repair bottles , a tool to remove a nail or screw in the tire, and one of those plug in cigarette lighter compressors to blow up the tire.

I've been lucky enough to have 3 flats, and 2 more times (once at work, once at home) when the aftermarket TPMS sensor stems failed. But I still ran numerous 1900+ mile trips with the SS.

You have more than a couple options. Go to the Modern Spare website and buy the tool kit and spare tire (not cheap, but nice), carry some fix a flat, or buy tool kit, low profile Jack, a portable air compressor and plug kit, or simply get a membership with AAA.

Personally, I have all three of the do it yourself options above. Based on the situation, I’ll use what gets me off the road the fastest.

The reality is I haven’t had a real disabling flat or blow out in over 20 years. I just like to be prepared ….and I don’t like waiting.

Got rid of them with 380 miles on my 2022 Lt1, on my 2016 Camaro with 1000 miles and bought my C7 and got rid of them also. Hate them and not nervous but do take precautions. I carry a can of fix a flat, 12 volt compressor and plug kit. Let er eat.

never had a runflat tire on any vehicle i've ever owned. by nature, i closely monitor the tires, lights etc. i've had flats, tires go low and such, but i've been close enough (or at home) so it was easy to deal with. i don't carry anything more than a tire pressure gauge with regard to tires.

ive taken trips and done several power tours, even long hauled 2 of them in the camaro specifically. never gave it a 2nd thought.

Good advice on work arounds with a plug kit and inflator, I don't' recommend the slime though. I haven't found a tire shop that thinks the slime is a good thing.
The only add I have is to avoid the Chevy roadside assist, they'll only tow to a a dealer and that's left me stranded overnite when I had a tire shop close by but they refused to go there. I added roadside to my auto policy and they'll take it anywhere I choose.

I agree, don't use slim as it will ruin your tire sensors. I was in the business for 12 years and we saw many sensors killed by slim. Leave it for Atvs, etc but don't use it on street tires.

The Goodyear runflats that came with the car were so bad I will not go back to them no matter what. My insurance has roadside coverage, and they will tow up to 50 miles. I do carry a pack of slime, but really only for the absolute worst case scenario.

I too have the Continentals. I’ve got the Modern Spare. A scissor jack, Milwaukee M18 Fuel 1/2” Impact and M12 inflator along with a 1/2” breaker bar just in case, in a small tote.
