Leather Seat Wearing Already
Just curious if any of you have had this issue and how easy was it to get resolved. I have 2020 2LT with light gray seats. I was cleaning/conditioning the leather seats today and noticed a couple wear marks in the seat bolster. I bought the car new 18 months ago and it only has 12,000 miles on the clock.
I'm attaching a photo. The black marks in the "leather" on the bolster and the small black mark along the stitching is not dirt. Any suggestions would be helpful. |

That is caused from sliding your rump over the bolster when you are getting in your car. Happens to a lot of people. You have to "swing" in and drop in the seat instead of sliding against the seat to get in.

You've stated it isn't dirt. Any chance it's dye that's transferred from clothing? We have camel interior (fake leather) in the SUV and it has a noticeable coloration from her jeans on the driver's side after about 25k miles. Granted, it's over a larger area than what you're showing...

fwiw and use at your own risk but...
we used a product called malco leather and plastic cleaner on all of our wakeboats for the last 15 years. stuff works GREAT at cleaning all kinds of stains and scuffs on our vinyl boat upholstery. you HAVE to go back over once malco is used with a GOOD uv protectant like babes or 303 aerospace as malco strips the uv off. we cleaned our boats every end of season with it, condition the upholstery and use again next season nice and clean. used it 2x on some stains on gf's leather sonata seats and again, works like magic. |

From Glen e:
Keep in mind you’re never really treating your leather. There is a plastic finish applied to the leather that keeps it sealed. Just use any type of multi surface protectant, don’t get caught in the hype of expensive conditioners and cleaners… A good multi surface is aerospace 303 or poorboys natural look. as far as I know the only car model that has real leather seat is Cadillac. All the rest have a Coated Leatherette. Fake Leather composite.

Seats
I also have a 2019 Cadillac CTS Premium Luxury with the light beige seats. I have a similar wear make on the driver's bolster as well.
I REALLY like driving the Camaro, I've done a couple track days and also ran the Tail of the Dragon with it. However at my age (70) it is a pain in the ass to get in and out of. This especially true in a parking lot if you can't get the door open to at least the second detent that holds the door. I used to sit down and try and swing my legs in. But that's a little tough on these old knees. I adopted the practice of putting my right leg in and slide my "bum" down in which rubs along the bolster. I guess I'll have to go back to the sit and spin way to get in. |

On mine the seat is pushed back and up automatically quite a bit when I open the door, making egress easier, and vice versa: when I push the start button, the seat sinks down and forward into the "fighter jet cockpit" driving position. A very lovely feature.

Zooming in on your pic, the grain of the leather is not degraded so it’s not wear.
Get a good cleaner but it be stained from something you wore, But as the grain is not worn I don’t think it’s wear and tear.

I had a 2012 Mustang GT. Mechanically the car was outstanding.
The leather like the interior was cheap. After about 1000 miles the driver side seat had pretty good size indentions and some wear so it's the foam in the seats as well. This is well documented on the Mustang forums, the seat wear after just a few miles. The dealer told me to wait awhile before doing a warranty claim because Ford would reject it. Mustangs go cheap on interior. The Camaro has a far better and more premium feel. This is why I just wanted a automatic, base model 5.0 but back in 2011 hardly any dealers carried the base model. Instead pay about 5k more for the premium. |

Its leather, no leather is perfect. It wears like skin. All leather will develop imperfections. Some say it looks better as it wears.
