What Torque Converter with Procharger
So the A8 shudder is back. Had the flush done approx @ 10K miles. I now have about 25K miles. No warranty obviously at this point.
Was going to put a new converter in myself. I've done this many times on oldschool TH350 and 700R4. Watched some vids, looks like nothing much has changed with the process. Was thinking of a new Circle D with a stall around 2500??? maybe as much as 3000?? 90% of the time I use the car for fun on the street... the other 10% as my backup daily driver. Want to keep the stall on the more tame side, but something that will leave room for improvement later. Looking for suggestions on what I should be considering in my choice. 2017 SS + P1X Procharger + 305/30R20 NT05 rear tires (currently) Will be upgrading to actual DR in the near future. |

Centri cars like a little more converter...I would contact Circle D or FTI and tell them what you are looking to do. My guess is a 3200 for a daily, 3600 for street/strip.

I went with a pray performance spelled circle D unit. Keeping it the same with the new setup, so should be able to hit 8s with it

I have the Circle D 258mm Pro Series 3200-3400. I daily drive it. Drives fine. The most important thing is to find a tuner that knows how to do converters. Definitely look at the fast guys and see who they use. I had a trans tune for the stock converter, then upgraded to a Circle D. Had to get a new tune (same tuner). I compared the 2 and let me tell you, they are very different. very very different.

Great point regarding the tune. Did a little research this morning, sounds like there's a lot more people familiar with engine tuning, and less with trans tuning....
Anyone know who might be able to do a good tune on this in the St. Louis area? Or alternately, anyone who can do a remote tune? I can start reaching out to one's I've seen mentioned on this board, but grateful for any suggestions on a starting point. |

My tuner Sam Miller at AMP in Grand Prairie TX. Has a PC 13-1400whp DD C7.He's great with 6-8spds. Probably 4's-10's if I know him. He won't allow it to get hurt. I said DD may be a wkend driver lol.

Sam Miller tunes some of the fastest Gen V's, Pat G has done excellent on my tunes, engine and trans out of Katy, TX but also does remote. I used to be weary on remote and now I actually prefer it due to how much the dial in drivability, wot and everything else with all the revisions.
