"Considering that Motor Trend tends to get the headline right but the details wrong, the accuracy of this latest report is suspect. For example, it would be near impossible to retrofit a Camaro with MR 4.0 technology. It’s not just a damper change, as we recently interviewed GM’s magnetic ride suspension guru, and you can read all about those details here."

Would be easy to swap the refreshed LT4 engine in there though, that's the point
650 to 668 hp (I'm interested to see the actual measured hp difference on a dyno, not just claimed) is enough to make some owners trade up, plus having the final year (2024) |

I do think 668 is a good number but it definitely is not enough to budge me. Especially since I just did a full build anyway. It should be enough tho to sway some to wait. And I do think it is good that GM FINALLY gave us a bump even if it is a minor one. |

Reading through these articles, I was reminded that the C8 Z06 will come with PSC2 R tires. Those will be about $600 each.
I'm disappointed they're equipping a ~$100k track car with tires that will run $2500 a set shipped, minimum. These will heat cycle out after 2-3 track days, and are not that great in the first place. I get it that GT3RS, McLaren and Ferrari owners have money to burn, but most Z06 owners do not. Chevy should have paid GY to create a new version of the GYF1SC 3R (RR?), a lot of the best McLaren and GT3 drivers I run with in CA are already using the current SC3Rs and love them. Some probably prefer them for superior performance vs. PSC2, and some are just being practical even though the extra cost is not an issue for them. No DOT track tire should cost more than $500, I get my track tires for about $175/ea and IMO they're better on track than PSC2R but they are slicks :-) |

Its 18 hp. Like +10 to wheels. Maybe its the same engine tested in 55 degree weather... lol. Silly to budge for anything not at least 50hp and even then that's still low. Honestly, they could of put a better cam in the LT4 to make some more power. The LT4 cam is puny. 189/223. Imagine if there was no such thing as emissions in 2021.

LT5 and (base) ZL1s would fly off the shelves for $75k a pop. GM doesn't get it

They don't want that to happen... it would throw their product and marketing strategy off permanently, other mfrs would respond and break boundaries they all follow to maintain a stable competitive environment and avoid a never ending performance (arms) race. If a $75k ZL1 had 750 HP, they would make corresponding updates to the aero and suspension and it would have nearly the same on track performance as a C7 ZR1 and threaten the advantages of the C8 Z06, and other future C8 trims. They'd have to make the C8 Z06 10%+ better. If they make an LT5 ZL1, I'd prefer they go all out with a limited final edition like a GT2 RS, and charge $90k to undercut the GT500 carbon... boost the power to 775 HP, big adjustable wing like a Viper ACR, lightweight by 100+ lbs, 2-way and front/rear height adjustable coilovers from Multimatic. |

An LT5 ZL1 would sell like crazy, no question, and $75k would not stop a legion of buyers. Sad that engine will never be installed in another car |

...you said what? "emissions"? the heck is that?
(just to help with the retort, let me give you the menu first, just those things I'd already been called in good ol' Jersey pre-move: hillbilly, retard, country bum )

An LT5 could happen. GM could be giving the camaro a proper send off like they did by producing the ZR1 for the last year of the C7. However if they did put in a LT5, there's no way it would be $75k. A ZLE currently costs approx $75k-$78k at MSRP. I'd think it would cost around or just under C7 ZR1 territory. Let's all hope GM will send off the camaro the right way.

First, I said agree a $75K LT5 ZL1 would sell fast, but Chevy mgmt knows this and doesn't care. They don't want to destroy their marketing strategy, and negatively impact other models, especially the new star the C8. A 500 HP Supra for $50k would crush the new M4 on track. New Supras are already badass on track with 380 HP. Well equipped M4s are closer to $80K. I was clear I meant base 911, not base GT3. Base 911 has 380 HP and starts at $101K. Base GT3 has 500 HP and starts at $160k+. |
