First post…new ZL1

Hey guys, been a LONG TIME lurker…Have owned a lot of cars over the years but never a Camaro (well besides my old 67) Anyway, later today I’m picking up a 2017 ZL1 with 10K miles on it, all stock performance wise. So as I’m talking to my sales guy, who I’ve bought a car from before he tells me it has a carbon trunk and wing. I’m thinking it’s an Anderson composites trunk? Does anyone else make a carbon trunk? Also the wing looks like an oem one I guess, but in carbon. I’m not gonna lie, I was a little bummed. I’ve had a carbon trunk back in the day on my S2000, lol but im over that “look”. I’m excited to get it, been driving a truck for a few months, albeit a nice Denali…but I miss a fast car. I sold my C7 about 8-9 months ago and that thing was a rocket. Fully built, supercharged etc, nearly 900hp.

Anyway, I guess I wanted to ask if the trunks are popular or desirable in carbon, I’m not a fan so if I found someone willing to trade I would lol. The car is nightfall gray so the carbon doesn’t look horrible, but not my thing, not on the trunk anyway. Also, I’m sure you guys are tired of it but should I worry about the oil pump? Already talked to my builder about the Katech and doing the cam at the same time.

Naw. Since you're doing the cam, an oil pump swap makes complete sense.

Then you should know that you have approximately eleven seconds after signing the paperwork to post some glam shots of your new hot rod, because otherwise...

How involved is a cam swapped for the ZL1?

Congrats on your ride. Some pics?

I have an AC trunk with the integrated spoiler but took and had it painted to match the car, only can see the carbon when it's open. I bought it used here in the classifieds and am happy with the different look. I don't know about a stock carbon trunk with a factory looking ZL1 wing as well though...

You can either pull the motor, or disassemble what feels like half the car. This thing is built around the radiator and i now see why labor charges for cam install are so much…but ohhh that sound

Leads me to the question, what is the lesser of two as far as labor and cost?

Guy posted a quote the other day for it both ways.

It’s more the parts than extra labor.

Hey guys, search continues. Was a done deal, ready to sign paperwork and the finance manager pulls up the carfax and you guessed it, had an accident that they didn’t tell me about. Makes sense now why they replaced the trunk, I was so pissed…wasted a whole day trying to buy the car for nothing.

On a side note…shop that had previously built my C7 told me it was about $3500 for labor, pump etc.
