I don't use ARM in daily driving, though I occasionally do for a highway downshift and pass and mainly on tracks.

As for shifting, one thing that was taught to me on a another forum a long time ago is to move the shifter at a speed appropriate for the RPM. You don't really want to bang gears at lower RPM. Just moving them at a slower pace and it will go into gears more easily.

IIRC the idea behind it is that the synchros need more time to do their work at lower RPM as it is spinning more slowly. At higher RPM, as long as your synchros are working properly, you can do the shifts pretty quickly without issues.

1) Warm up the trans. The trans won't shift smoothly when you first start driving and the OEM fluid is cold. Drive for like a half mile or so in 2nd or 3rd gear at 1500 to 2500 RPM. Once warm, the shifts get much smoother

2) When starting from 0 mph, shift from 1st to 3rd. The 1st to 2nd is often notchy. Add in the the stupid OEM skip-shift function that blocks you from shifting from 1st to 2nd (to save gas) under certain situations, and odds are you aren't going to be able to smoothly shift from 1st to 2nd. I've been doing the 1-3 shift since I got the car 6 months ago and it works well every time.

3) Always set the auto rev match to "on," each time you start the car (the default on start up is "off"). It definitely helps smooth out the driveline engagement when you let the clutch out.

Thanks! I do the 1 > 3 shift often when just cruising around. its much more comfortable than 1 > 4 skip shift.

I've been using the rev match as well, and it helps, but i dont like it so much when slowing down for stop signs (mostly in neighborhoods) because of the blip when taking it out of gear. Not a big deal really, just trying to be a polite neighbor.
