hard to believe a new oil pump isnt creating pressure. maybe the sending unit isn't connected? hopefully? if not, they are "recycling your motor...
Just were replacing the Oil pump.

I was wondering the same thing, makes me wonder now if the sending unit has an issue, and they never checked the pressure manually before claiming the oil pump bad.

My thoughts exactly.

Will be calling them before COB today to see if they have an update.

These pumps pump very well, but they don't suck worth a damn. I prime them with Lucas oil treatment. It's much more viscous and really helps to prime the pump

Apparently the dealership doesn't have the tool to prime the pump still.... If what I looked up online is correct it is only like a $30 tool. They are trying to get another dealership to loan them one, and if they can't then they will buy one... lot of time wasted for such a cheap tool imo.

They had to order the tool outright, they will get the tool thursday or friday, hoping for some good news then.

What’s a normal pressure reading for these cars? Some say between 35-40 and others say 30-40. Mine looked like it was around 29 psi if I’m not mistaken

My ZLE stays at 29-30 psi at a hot idle. Under load it’s between 40-50 psi.

I mean my pressure was good all the way up till the moment it wasn't. so be careful and aware..

Dealer used the prime tool gm recommend, pressure went up only slightly, still waiting on answer from GM about next step.

I got my car back today (3 weeks exactly). They said the pump did not break apart, instead the solenoid that controls the stages of the pump would stick when the engine temps were up. They replaced the oil pump and tensioner kit. It is running great and has oil pressure once again.

So if this happens to someone without warranty, what is the expected repair cost? What is required to perform the fix? Is the oil pump easy to replace? Mine is also 5/18 build date. Just really annoying having to worry about things like that. After experiencing the LS3 and it's reliability, i figured GM would continue the engine lineup with such heritage.

From the print out they gave me I would estimate about $500 in parts plus ~16 hours labor.

I paid $130 for an updated pump, Katech is $500. I would’ve bought it had it been out when we were ready to put my car back together.

Getting to it is the expensive part if you’re paying someone else, or time consuming part if you’re doing it on your own. She’s in there lol
