Lol, when I was young and dumb? I used to travel there for work 3-4 weeks a year and enjoyed visiting. Especially Northern California, San Fran. LA not so much. Finally visited San Diego a few years ago during “June Gloom” and a I’ll pass. Taxes, politics, no thanks...so I live in Illinois. Ha ha. It’s California without the great weather and beaches.

There is a glimmer of hope for CA:
RecallGavin2020 Reaches 2,117,730 Signatures Against California Governor Newsom OFFICIAL Media Contact: Randy Economy, Senior Advisor, Official Media Spokesman, RecallGavin2020.com press@recallgavin2020.com (FOR RELEASE Wednesday, March 17, 2021) (Los Angeles, California) The official Recall Campaign against California Governor Gavin Newsom has now gathered 2,117,730 signatures in the historic grassroots campaign to remove the highly controversial and divisive political figure. This figure is expected to grow as all County Receipts are tallied. Additional signature totals are still being tabulated. More updated figures will be announced over the next several days. 1,964,203 signatures have been pre-verified from an independent third-party vendor who specializes in getting ballot initiatives to qualify for election here in California. 1,497,000 valid signatures are needed to force a special recall election per California Elections Code. The announcement was made during an online meeting with campaign leaders and volunteers late Wednesday, March 17th. Media members throughout the nation also watched the historic announcement.

90503 nailed the answer. Vehicle has to be 2 years old and have 7500 miles on it to bring it into CA. (there are exceptions) I would find a friend or family member who lives out of state, and buy the car using their address.

You can bring a new vehicle in from out of state. I just purchased two brand new Chevy 2500hd trucks from Oregon. To register them I had to have them smogged, the vin verified and pay the taxes, along with normal registration fees. Was pretty simple. I went to my local lein/dmv company that takes care of the dmv stuff for a small fee. Only issue was we needed to put some miles on the trucks to get all the readiness sensors to come up. Just make sure the emissions system is labeled as 50-state.

Thanks guys. To be clear, I already knew we can purchase out-of-state cars and register them in CA, but my question pertained specifically to the issue of 2021 ZL1 being banned from sale here in CA and in WA.
By the way, I found out my nearest dealership has a ZLE in stock, so I went to check it out, purely to check out the ergonomics, interior and admiring its looks, as I knew full well they wouldn’t allow a test drive. It looked and felt great in there! Visibility wasn’t an issue to me (at least sitting in the showroom haha) and since I’m not very tall I had plenty of space and comfort. Of course, they wanted about $10k markup for alleged dealer-installed accessories, so the trip to the dealership also doubled up as comic relief Hey it’s their car to sell of course, but that would not be for me to get suckered into paying that!Geoff |
