Headers without tune ?
Hey guys I have some headers on the way that I wanna install myself. My tuner is a little over a hour away do you think I will be okay to drive that far without a tune ? I just don’t want the car to go into limp mode or anything on the way there

No problem. No risk there. You can easily run LTs without a tune for as long as you wish. But occasionally you need to turn off a couple of CELs. That is mostly all a tune does to assist with LTs anyway. Been there done this more than once.

youre fine. if you delete the cats and then drive it you will end up with some permanent codes. the tuner can take care of the cel.

Ask someone that knows for sure before you do it. Seems I've heard that once the permanent code is thrown, I think the cel is on until you put stock cats and stuff back on and drive it. Just make sure you all someone and get a definite answer.

You’ll still be stuck with those codes regardless of whether the state checks them or not, if you ever sell or trade the car it will come up. And you never know if your state will decide to start checking. So, I’d definitely follow the advice I gave earlier.

the cel can be turned off, but the codes will always be there. i think a gm tech 2 is the only way around it without putting it back to stock.
as suggested, if possible, flash the car with the corresponding emission(s) codes disabled before doing any work.
