Run Flat Options on the ZLE
Has anyone ran 325's sq instead of the 305's up front? I was looking at what options we have for run flats and it seems like the front size 305/30R19 is trickier to find in a run flat. I did see a post using search where someone was running a 315 up front.

If you want these for the street, runflats were pretty bad even on my SS with magnetic ride control, I can't even imagine how bad the ride would be on a ZL1 1LE with the DSSV dampers... And, unless I'm missing any recent changes, these tires have no advantage on the track either.

Jeff, I would put Michelins or Continental tires in the OEM sizes or slightly larger on your ZLE and forget the runflats.

My 2012 135i had run flats from the factory. I had never experienced them before.
They are complete garbage on a sports car. You feel every little rut on the road. You get pulled left and right in those ruts too. Growing up on dirt roads, I never experienced anything so bad! I say do not get run craps, especially on a high horsepower, track monster like the ZLE. |

Runflats are a terrible option for this car. Luckily its hard to find, you would remove all steering feel and greatly reduce the handling of the car.

Thanks for the replies. I am coming from a 2016 C7 Z06 z07 which did have magnetic ride control and I will admit the 1LE is definitely a stiffer ride. The C7 had run flats but they were Michelin Cup 2's which performed well when I did a track day at Road Atlanta.
The only reason i was entertaining run flats was how well the Cup 2's handled and having the peace of mind. I do realize the odds of having a unrepairable flat in an area that has tires in stock for these sizes is slim. I have a feeling I am going to get about the same wear out of the factory Goodyears. I was also entertaining the idea of getting a modernspare.com. |
