Thanks for this info!!!
I tried the 2 closest chevy dealers (Parkway & Sterling) to me and they were CLUELESS about track alignments.
So contacted Lonestar and finally got someone who understands the procedure. So I now have an appointment in a few weeks for Troy to do it for me.
THANKS AGAIN!

Make sure you are using oil approved for track use in the performance supplement. ZL1 1LE factory fill oil is not.
https://my.chevrolet.com/content/dam...supplement.pdf

"ZL1 1LE Only

Change the engine oil to Mobil 1 15W-50. Change the engine oil after four hours of accumulative track usage. After track usage, the oil must be changed back to the engine oil listed in the “Engine Oil” section of the owner’s manual."

I agree on getting high temp DOT4 brake fluid.

Rotate your tires halfway through the day. I have heard GSS wears one of the fronts quickly compared to larger tracks. This is usually not needed at larger tracks...maybe rotate fronts at the end of day 1 for a 2 day event at a larger track to help tire life a bit.

You may want to replace the 4 rear alignment bolts for peace of mind. Also give them specific written instructions on the amount of camber and toe you want front and rear for best results. ZL1 1LE has 2 front camber adjustment points so you may want to specify which one(s) for them to use.

Thanks for the info.
I actually have the newer 0w-40 ESP oil which I understand is supposed to be safe for street or track.
If I'm wrong, please let me know.
Hopefully this chevy shop will get the bolts and alignment done correctly.
They stated they have done several ZLE race alignments.
And in general were MUCH more knowledgeable about the whole thing than any of the other ones I talked to.
The other two dealers were absolutely clueless about it.

The ZLE still needs the 15w50 for track use because of the 3R tires. The 0w40 is fine to track for the c7z06 because it has a dry sump.

According to the performance supplement, 0W-40 Dexos2 oil is track approved for all Camaro variants except for the ZL1 1LE.

You will probably have to provide new rear bolts or ask them to order them several days before your appointment if you want them replaced and pay extra labor. Personally I would mark the old bolts on the car beforehand and ask for them back if not reusing the old ones.

I'll check into the bolts.

And yes thanks again guys - didn't catch the ZLE note needing the 15w-50 oil.
I see that now.
Guess I'll be doing that too in the next weekend or two.
Don't want to take any chances burning my engine up.

You know this track racing gets pretty dang expensive when all the "extras" are added up.

You can also get it done at Viper Exchange which is down the street from Parkway at the Dodge dealership. Talk to Ashley and tell her what you need done. They did this for me and it was a quick turnaround. Morgan is their main tech and he has really helped me in a pinch.

So when I'm done with my track event -
Change back to normal 0-40ESP oil
Change strut towers back to street settings - hopefully I don't have to get ANOTHER alignment back to "normal" settings correct????

I leave the car in track alignment, but it's turning out most of my miles are on the track. Also your call on the oil. You can leave the heavy stuff in if you stay down south, just make sure it's warm (190F or higher) before you get on it.

So basically if the car isn't a daily driver I might be ok to leave it with all track settings.
It is just a weekend toy for me, so I'll likely try that & just keep an eye out for tire wear.
The oil I might leave in for a couple months while it's still dang hot here in south Texas, then get it changed before the weather starts cooling off.
