ZL1 Public Service Announcement

So, I don't know about the rest of you guys, but with the "shelter in place" stuff, I don't drive my beast much right now.

In fact, it took me 4 weeks to go through the last tank of gas.

This morning, I had to go out to the garage and get some tools and decided to check on my battery. Glad I did. It was getting low.

So, I hooked up the little charger that came with my ZL1 and am leaving it on for a few days.

I would like to remind everyone to check out their battery... Better safe than sorry... :-)

Did you get a charger with your car? I was looking at the Cheverlot accessories website just yesterday and noticed that the smart chargers are no longer available.

Yes, it was in my trunk when I bought the car.

I use it whenever I don't drive the car for a 3 or more days.

Pulsetech makes good battery charger stuff, all kinds of applications, tailor made for vehicles that don't drive much. We used their stuff in the Air Force with deep storage vehicles, combinations of plug-in and solar powered passive chargers and plate maintainers. https://www.pulsetech.net/

Its from the winter package. It came with a horrible (and I can't express that enough) battery tender/trickle charger that says camaro on it. I have 2 of them sitting in a drawer in the garage. The things have a habit of not detecting when the battery is charged, and continue trying to charge, then get overheated (you take it off the posts, then put it back on, then it will detect that the battery is fully charged). Plus the charge they put out is barely anything...might work ok as a tender if it would properly detect when the battery is fully charged.

I have had so many battery issues with the fleet of camaros I have had. I always keep mine on a tender when not in use. Mine too came with the CTEK battery tender. Nice unit, but price as an option on the window sticker was like $150!
