Annoying Clicking left front wheel area?
Pretty self explanatory in the title. I have a 17' ZL1 and just rolled over 5K miles.
Whenever I pull off from a complete stop and turning the wheel hard to the right I get this GAWED AWEFUL clicking noise coming from the driver side front wheel area... Anyone with any insight? Has anyone experienced this? I need a remedy quick! ![]()

Common issue. Mine did it when new. Has to do with contaminates getting in-between the wheel and wheel hub.
Solution is for them to take off the wheels and clean both surfaces. Mine went away after that fix and after 20K miles is just starting to come back, will have them address it with the next oil change interval.

I fixed that same issue by applying the correct torque to the lug nuts. The factory was sending them out at 110lb and the zl1 needed to be at 140lb. 110lb was supposed to be only for the SS.
Please refer to your owner's manual for the correct numbers. |

The spec is the same 140 lb-ft for the 6th gen SS. 110 may have been it for an older gen.

You might want to also re-torque the sway bar end links. That was also a problem with early ZL1s.

Yes, that is also a common issue, however that makes a clunking thud sound when going over a speed-bump or driveway, not a continuous clicking when turning.

I thought the ZL1 lug nut torque spec was 150 lb-ft.?

Let's put this to rest once and for all, here's what the owners manual and the service manual say. The high performance manual supplement (ZL1, 1LE) makes no mention of any difference.
The data is for the 2018 MY, but I seriously doubt it'd be different for 2019+, as the suspension components and hub/studs are the same as in previous years.

I wonder how much a 3" extension will reduce a 150 lb torque value? |
