Alright, this time it was my fault...
Ok, so this time the damage was my fault...
![]() ![]() while I was in New Orleans (for the love of God, never bring your sports car down there)... I slowly ran into a manhole cover on the L front side of the bumper.I was able to fix the part where the clips separated by driving up some ramps, removing the bottom covers, and pressing the face and the inside clips together. My brother and I also wedged a piece of 2x4 between the black grill and the frame which will never come out & holds the face and grill together perfectly. So all I have left is the minor cosmetic scratches, (near the tiny black poke hole, which I believe is a screw that poked thru the face) I think I can buff most of it out with McGuires compound. Therefore, the poke hole, tiny creases in the plastic, and the tiny tear in the plastic at the bottom are left. Any ideas? Last edited by adbarnett5; 03-13-2020 at 10:09 AM. |

Is it just me, or is that cracked?
You might be able to sand, bond-o and touch up that puncture. |

Yes, the crack/tear is what I was referring to. That and the plastic front bottom is creased slightly from the impact.

I did the same thing to my new Mercedes E450 - painful - $2,700 for the entire front fascia to be replaced. Yours looks about the same as mine - couldn't tell from 10 feet away, but was very apparent when close up. Sorry it happened to you.

Ditto this if you're trying to get out with little/no cost. Maybe a shim of some sort epoxy'd to the back side of the crack will help keep it together, too. Will probably have some witness marks left over when looking at it up close, but should pass the 5' test no problem if you sand it smooth before painting.
If you're wanting to make it pristine and don't mind spending more, it's not completely ridiculous to replace the whole fascia on these cars. Fascias up here in MI are <$300 from the dealer and then about another $200 or so to get it painted. Install isn't bad if you're comfortable turning a wrench, too. I've had mine off and back on in <2 hrs, so figure a dealer with hoists and all the proper tools should be able to match that at least if you go that route.
