You’re damn right. End of story, end of discussion.
Now you’re getting the point. It’s about time man. Now, as for your question about the best car and wouldn’t you love a sub 3 second Camaro...... the Corvette and many other gasoline cars have that franchise covered already. I don’t need sub-3s..... hell I’m thrilled with a 4 second car. It’s still faster than 95% of what’s on the road. Keep that crap for the high ends and exotics where it belongs. - OR - Keep the Camaro customizable so people can tune them to a 3 second car if they want. The whole aftermarket and tunability and customizing is half of what the Camaro has been about from the very beginning. I mean, imagine showing up to a car show with your new electric Camaro....., “yeah man, I just installed those new larger magnets”....... you’d get your backside laughed out of the place What’s the point of a sub 3 second Bugatti Chiron at $3m when a $40k Camaro can do it? Seriously, I’d like to know. Last edited by Petrol Head; 02-01-2020 at 08:44 PM. |

I have a lot of thoughts about EVs but will just address my perspective relative to EV Camaro. For drag racing EVs will be the fastest. For road course tracking, they would be fast but not enough battery to be able to drive there, track and drive home without losing time due to charging. I’ve seen a Tesla at Gingerman and it was fast for a half of a lap before it went into battery ,amazement mode due to heat. EVs have a ways to go before they will complete replace ICEs.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Nice try man. Copy and Paste all you like, but what does maximum flow limit have to do with anything? I am taking about real life time to fill a car here, LMAO. Has ANYONE in here EVER filled their tank in 120 seconds? NO! Not unless they drive a motorcycle.

Again...going back to a basic analogy. Whats more visceral and exciting to be in the presence of look at and hear? An electric subway train that has almost instant tq to get you up to speed as it travels from one local stop to the next, or watching and hearing a twin engine diesel locomotive train taking off slowly pulling 100 cars filled with cargo. Whats more exciting, the wheel scraping noise of the electric train or the mechanical thundering rumble of those powerful diesels? I think we can all honestly answer those questions if we take the time to look deep down in our souls for truth.🙏

It’s just interesting to me that as much as we talk about having the performing of the Pony cars when it comes to discussing even better performance it is suddenly about emotion, not performance.
Again don’t turn this into a political discussion, it’s simply intended to be a technology discussion. As for the a Tesla at Gingerman? No clue what vintage or powertrain, but a Tesla is now running the ‘ring to out a Porsche, Porsche. So that argument is about to fall by the wayside as well. Plaid. 3 motor.

Because a lot of members will end up getting scolded by the admin for political discussion..... electrics are purely political. All of them, Tesla included. Let’s stop all the discussion right now and forever. |

Let me clearly rephrase If a 1000 hp Camaro existed and it handled like GM ride and handling engineers are world famous for would that change your minted? And so far the answer is suddenly I don’t care about having the best performing car I want the best rumbling car. I get it. Saw an old friend today with his Hot Heels convertible. Auditory awesomeness. But very soon that’s all it will be.

I personally kind of take the progressive stance when it comes to modern vehicles. I love my SS to death and the V8 is badass but I have very little opposition toward moving to EV's, especially for a sustainable future. High Horse Power EV's is just whipcreme on the cake so to speak. I'd miss the V8 sound but electric vehicles -hint hint- are going to all out out perform our current gasoline performance vehicles, especially given several EV SEDANS are capable of keeping up with if not thrashing the SS and one notably even the ZL1. I'd jump on the bandwagon.
In this aspect though, I'd rather the Camaro die and a different EV model replace it rather than carrying the name over. It just wont be a Camaro if its an EV. |

1000 HP Camaro, they are out there now. Hennessey's Exorcist -
Don't need to be an EV, if they were then the price tag would be twice or three times as much. Try substituting a EV in as your daily driver, not so easy. Wall St. Journal does a test with a bunch of drivers all over the world, 10 hour journeys turned into 30, may be a good idea, not so practical see the link... lets not forget all the heavy metals being mined, the world cannot support mass adoption of EV's gov'ts will run out of subsidies .... 90 million IC cars sold a year, about 1 million heavily subsidized EV's - do the math https://www.wsj.com/video/series/shi...d=hp_lead_pos5
