Dexos2 Question
Just found out today that apparently Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is not Dexos certified. I’ve been using their 0W-40 in my 2019 SS since my first oil change at 1500 miles. I guess from now on I’ll be running Mobil 1 ESP 0W-40. My question is, I still have about 3k miles until I need to change the oil. Can I wait that out, or should I change to a Dexos2 oil ASAP? At this point, I’m concerned I’ve caused some undue wear because I didn’t use a Dexos2 oil.
Also, my manual says I can run a Dexos1 5W-30 oil if the proper 0W-40 isn’t available, but only for street use. I don’t track the car, so I assume it’s fine to use. Does anyone else run 5W-30 in a 2019+? Kind of crazy there are only two Dexos2 0W-40 oils available. |

If it was me I would wait. Are you storing the car for the winter? Change it in the spring

I’m pretty sure the main difference would be the pennzoil is still higher saps, provides better protection and longer intervals than esp but would poison the cats over hundreds of thousands of miles. The esp is low saps. Keeps cats happy over the longest life of these cars

Thanks guys. I’ll just change it at my normal 5k interval.
