Pro charger and E-85
Hi guys,
I currently have a 17ss with a pro charger P1X kit running the pro charger tune. I’m wanting to add more power so I picked up a set of kooks 1 7/8 headers with cats. I am thinking about adding E-85 flex fuel kit also. What kind of performance can I see with this? I don’t know much about adding E-85 to a vehicle. Any pros or cons would be helpful? Also any suggestion for tuners in the Pittsburgh area would be great. Thanks |

E85 and boosted cars go together like peanut butter and jelly, dumb analogy. As long as you have the fuel system to support it there are no cons honestly other than it requires 30% more fuel to run, hence the need for a bigger fuel system. It will run cooler, cleaner and make more power.

When adding headers, you lose some boost. You need a smaller pulley now too.

You will need a fuel system upgrade because E85 requires about 30% more volume but it's a worthwhile mod on these high compression engines.

All of the above. LOL
Get the LT4 in tank pump, high pressure pump, and injectors.

DSX Tuning has good pricing on most of this stuff. RockAuto also had good pricing on some of this stuff too.

No, you do not need a smaller pulley. You don't lose anything from the boost number dropping with the lower restriction, because the supercharger is still spinning the same speed that it was before. So you are still pushing just as much extra air into the engine as you were before.

Boost is just a measure of restriction. Just because you drop boost from removing a restriction in the system doesn't mean you lose power.

Of course, you can choose to pulley down anyway, but you certainly don’t *have* to. Edit: King beat me to it!

FWIW to the OP. I did exactly what you're looking to do. However I am running a smaller pulley on a p1 though in addition to the headers, etc.
I was tuned for E60 but my highside is just starting to dip so to be safe I dropped it down to E55 or less but nothing but positives though!. What a huge difference e85 makes even just normal driving. Also you may want to consider running off road pipes unless you absolutely need the cats.

As a 17 SS 1LE owner, you should go ahead and upgrade the entire fuel system and when your tuner is in the tune have them copy over all of the fueling tables and voltage tables from the ZL1 into your tune.
I would go ahead with the following LT4 parts: -In-tank pump LPFP -High pressure pump HPFP -Non orificed fuel line for the high pressure pump -both high pressure fuel lines to the injector rails -LT4 injectors Those fuel parts along with the headers, E85 and a tune and you should pick up some power. On 91 alone with the headers you should see around a 20-35 rwhp increase, then once you go E85 and as long as the E85 mix comes in over E55 you will pick up another 25-30 rwhp increase. Have your tuner dial in the gas tune 1st, then once it is spot on then have them work on the E85 tune.
