Just rolled over 16000 miles on my 18 ZLE. 11000 of which with mods below.
The ELSD was replaced under warranty (even with mods) at 12500. Pinion preload failed

Wow, that is the first eLSD that I have seen go bad. Interesting...

3900 miles. Received my 2018 in April of 2019.
It's funny seeing the low miles some of you guys have. I bought this to be my commuter car for work. |

7,200 miles - got my 2018 in Sept of ‘17. No real issues other than too much air in the SC cooling circuit. Took care of that with ADM piece.

8k miles on mine. Oil pump failed at around 6500 miles I think. Engine survived. New oil pump. No other issues. I still love my car and don't want anything else currently.

Got my ZL1 at the end of June ! She had 2,700 miles, the previous owner put 1000,s of extra $ on her and drove maybe 300 miles a month. It's a 2018, I've had it two months and it has 4,500 miles now ! I love it !

Took possession of her at the end of June, and I’m somewhere around 900km.

2017 Zl1, M6, Build 02/2017
8,300 miles no issues at all. Did have to address two recalls. Wiring harness related. Keeping mne. Way more reliable than the C7's I had.

I've met one local fellow ZL1 owner, and his pump failed before he hit 7k miles. For this reason alone, I will sell or trade mine before the warranty expires. I'm not playing Russian roulette with the expense of a new LT4 purchase and install. Some people will say that it's a very isolated problem, but I don't feel that it is based on what I've read. As you can see, most owners don't even have 3K miles on their cars, and I feel that if people (myself included) put any sort of miles on their cars, the oil pump failure rate would be MUCH higher. My guess is that I'm not alone and the market will eventually be flooded with used ZL1's as the powertrain warranties start to expire. I wish GM would step up and recall the pumps, but that's not going to happen. It's too bad, because it's a black eye on what is otherwise a perfect car. JMHO. |
