Maggie Heartbeat 653whp/643trq

Hello fellow forum members. I first want to tell everyone that contributes on this forum a BiG Thank You! It’s great the amount of knowledge you guys have and willing to share with all of us. Again, Thank you!! After frequenting this forum since December I finally pulled the trigger in February on a 2019 SS 1LE. I got a great deal I couldn’t pass up. Absolutely LOVE the car! In April I decided that I wanted a bit more power after driving a buddy’s Z06 and Hellcat so I bought a Magnuson Heartbeat kit with intercooler. More or less a spur of the moment impulse buy . Was thinking about selling it afterwards reading about the piston rings failing in some of these LT1’s but after talking to some knowledgeable tuners I decided I would go through with install but wanted to do it to make SAFE power. Had trouble finding a lot of info with my mod list so hopefully this answers some questions and helps others. Ended up with this mod list:

-Magnuson Heartbeat TVS 2300 Kit with intercooler
-LT4 Fueling
-DSX Flex Fuel Kit
-DSX Aux Pump
-RotoFab Dry Filter Intake for Magnuson Heartbeat
-LS Front Crank Seal
-Mighty Mouse Wild Catch Can
-TSP Long Tube Headers With Off Road Connection Pipes
-Alky Control Dual Nozzle running off MAF sensor 100%M1
-HD Blower Belt
-Colder Plugs

I took it to a Highly recommended shop and tuner 2 weeks ago and got the call today that everything was completed and ready to tune. Told the tuner to keep it extremely conservative and don’t want to use the meth to supplement fueling too much but more so as a safety net. Well the 1LE impressed us with the numbers she put down on 75-78% E content!

Stock baseline pull: 424/433 around 80 degrees outside

It was HOT outside today with a temp of 94 degrees and crazy humid
Supercharged with 85mm pulley hitting exactly 9psi of boost
93 pump 606/604
E75 653/644

The car is a Rocket! Haven’t been able to open her up yet as there was traffic on the way home but it’s going to take some time to get used to this power

I’ll update later to see whether or not I can notice a difference in handling since the heavier weight but haven’t noticed yet. Took some hard turns on the way home today and felt like it did before but just have to be MUCH easier on the throttle. This will never be on a track or drag strip, just a fun weekend car Also, I have access to E85 so I’ll be strictly running it over 93 and very happy I won’t have to worry about mixing!!!

Hey, thanks choosing Magnuson. Those are pretty dam good numbers on 93 octane and just 9 PSI then throwing some E75 and making over 650 is very cool. Go down to an 80 for about 12 lbs and you'll probably see 680 or so. I run a 70mm on mine and I'm at 15-16 lbs and making over 800 on VP MS109. One day I'll run some E also. Congrats.

solid numbers... I have to say that the Maggie and the Whipple look the best under the hood.

That is very impressive!. Just out of curiosity. What exactly does this mean?

Thanks guys! The Alky control is not running off boost since this is a PD Blower and it hits peak boost instantly. It runs off The reading from the MAF. It only sprays Meth when I’m Really getting on the car or around 3/4 throttle and above. It’s spraying 100% Methanol M1. Laynlo15, a lot of you’re posts in the forum have helped me out tremendously in my decision making for this build! Thank you!

Great numbers, congratulations.

Do you know what you AFR looks like under WOT? Nice to see someone running basically full E85.

Im not too off im at 630hp/650tq (STD) on a LT4 blower but dont have meth or the aux pump... So you are definitely conservative. But I like it... I just might consider Meth after all.

A/F at WOT is around 12.1-12.3. We could have achieved more power but it was HOT (94 degrees with a heat index of 105 and crazy humid) and I was happy with those numbers on a conservative tune and don’t want to push stock internals too far. That’s impressive numbers on the LT4 Blower. What E content and boost are you at to reach those numbers?

Those numbers on the stock bottom end would make me dreadfully nervous. Either way, congrats on the numbers and I hope you enjoy the power.

Good results.

From my research and experience you are relying on that meth more then you are lead on to believe with that fuel system and E content. LT4 fuel system alone is normally good to 650whp or so on E50 and 620whp on E60. My guess is if you turned the meth off, the AFR would lean out into the 12.8 range. It probably wouldn't even KR with E75, so I would say you are still safe in the event that the meth didn't work and you went lean on a pull. You just wouldn't want to run that lean all the time.

I never cross compare dyno numbers. Some pull STD, some SAE, some pull 1:1 others pull in a lower gear.

The combo sounds stout...

Congrats!

Not with Meth and E...how many setups you know of blowing up on high octane fueling? 90% blow up from not enough octane, too much heat...this causes rings to expand and break. Some LT1's are more forgiving then others, but moral of the story,,,Octane is a LT1's best friend.

Been there and I had little plenty of octane but maybe little too much boost and timing. Thanks 1le, I've tried to help lots of guys even if they didn't run our blower. Glad your making solid numbers. PM me if you ever need anything.

True you did, but you were doing all that through stock exhaust which imo was creating a bunch of heat at those boost levels. Even at that you still got good life out of that engine Imo.

I definitely did not want to push more than 10psi of boost on the stock internals and I feel somewhat safe at 9psi and flex fuel. I want this engine to last until I can open it up and start the forging/heads process and that might not be for a long while. The shop put the Alky pump light in the pillar right at eye level so I’ll know real quick if it’s not spraying meth as soon as I go 3/4-WOT.
