I can only imagine what Corvette can deliver for the base price of the GT.

When the C8 comes out being GM's mid engine platform, the Ford GT will just be an overpriced V6. Ford has announced it will make 350 more units of the GT until 2022. Then I assume they will quit making it. And the Corvette will live on like it always has. +1.....Here is the ZR1 beating the Ford GT's record breaking time just a week later at VIR. Wow, so the Ford GT's record smashing lasted a whole week. Big deal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...&v=j7j1gCM6-5M

LeMans and IMSA officials even admitted to giving the Ford GTs an Edge in Balance of Performance which essentially made the Ford GTs cheater cars. All race teams struggle with BOP, but it is admittedly the only way to "balance" the field. However, uneven application of BOP skews results... . FGT is really an embarrassment at $500k plus. Cramped interior, V6, no storage, uncomfortable on the road, and smoked by countless less-expensive cars on road courses. The new Ford GT500 will undoubtedly be a more reasonable car for Ford and its specs will also act to push the competition to respond, etc. |

Removing the seats for Sparcos, removing anything else that's removable without making the interior ugly like a race car, it would still be heavy. If you remove the "radio", you lose access to certain important settings controlled there right, like exhaust valve? And you'd lose PDR control, and CarPlay for nav. LT5 would be nice, but this car would be at least $90K base price right? Well worth it for a 750 HP supercar IMO, but getting very pricey. I'd want 3 stage dry sump too. |

The Alpha is circa 2013MY. Just trying to be fair, here, but as far as age, they are equally as old. I would agree in thinking the S550 < Alpha, but the S550 is still a very good platform. A good driver of a stock GT350R and SS 1LE (both "stock") will be back and forth on track for the most part. If there is any question about how good the Alpha platform is, look at what kind of performance it can provide without aftermarket components. Then, look at what aftermarket components are even available and what their specs are... |

To be fair to Ford, until they moved to IRS on the Mustang, they were not even in the game for handling. They are just lagging behind because this is a new ball game for them and they are still in learning mode. I remember reading an article when they first switched over to IRS and in the article they said Ford had to re-design the entire front-end of the Mustang because it wasn't able to keep up with the more advanced rear-end. So, they have been playing catch up since then and just are not there yet.

Best thing that could happen for GM is to see the 500 be faster than the ZL1 to perpetuate the competition. Maybe even mopar will get off her ass & produce another car that is able to actually use it's steering wheel again against the stand & camaro. Would really like to see the Challenger / Charger make a chassis to handle the road course & put the big three all back into the same game. |

From the years I have kept up with racing and Ford Racing against the Corvette, whenever the Corvette Racing Team shows up, the Ford team all have a sick feeling in their stomach
