Water Spots on Engine Cover

Hey all,

I just bought the Camaro in my signature below and it has water spots on both sides of the engine cover. I know that these cars have active hood ports, so I am wondering if the water could have come from that. The owner said they never washed the engine or anything since it only had 600 miles on it and had been sitting in a garage.

Thanks,
Tex

I also have a 2016 SS and I have no water spots on mine. Engine bay seems to never get wet

Could be build up condensation that didn't evaporate from not running the car enough and not letting it get up to operating temps.

I’d be willing to bet the previous owner sprayed some kind of cleaner or shine on those that wasn’t meant for plastics. Doesn’t look like water did that to me. Just sayin’.

I only get water spots on the black panel where the hood latch is. However, the red lettering keeps peeling off my engine covers. I will be getting my 4th set soon.

Doesn't look like water spots to me. Looks like a chemical that faded the plastic.

Take some soap, water and a rag and wash your motor; just don't pressure wash it. Once you're done start it up and let it dry. I would wipe the cover with a towel.

Also get some Adam's VRT and go over the plastic. It will make the motor look fresh and new. The VRT doen't attract dust and it's not shinny like some products. It just has a nature rich color.

Here is what mine looks like. Let me know if the picture doesn't show.

Thanks,

I'll look into seeing if I can clean it off or not. Your car is looking good sir.

BTW: You gonna buy a new cover every time you do an HP mod upgrade? :P
