Shift pops are gone! Help!

Hello fellow ss owners. i own a 2017 2ss a8. bought the car used, lowered with flowmasters axleback. Bought it back in november and the pops in the car when i shifted around 3,000rpm were LOUD. like gun shots or lightning. last week, i decided to replace the spark plugs and wires. Replaced the stock ac delco with NGK ltr6ix-11 and the wires jba red power cables.

Right away, i noticed the POPS and crackles were nearly non existent. realized that spark plugs i bought were 1 step colder. right away about 5 days later after having them in, i replaced them with the stock ones. I noticed the pops came back but not as loud as they first used to be. Are these wires effecting that? Or did i break something when i had those NGK's in for about a week?

Any input would be helpful. Thank you

update: Checked all o2 hoses. nothing loose. revved and no crackle.. just feel like selling it at this point. No fun.. is it possibly the JBA wires?

There's nothing wrong with the stock wires and plugs. And there can be a lot wrong with aftermarket parts if you don't get the right ones, as apparently you have noticed.

You already know what you need to do to fix your problem: Put the stock wires back on.

I tossed the old wires after a couple days of having the new ones on. it was rainy days so i didnt notice the crackles and pops gone because i wasnt using my shifter in manual mode. just want to make sure its the JBA wires before i re order stock wires..

After you changed the plugs and wires the car was running right for the first time. Pops and crackles occur when un-burned fuel leaks into the exhaust and detonates in the pipes.

If you like "pops and crackles" just hollow out your mufflers and cats. Problem solved.

Ive recently been watching stock 6th gen SS revs and start ups. they even crackle more than mine does now, theres def something wrong.

Something broke when i was using pressure to take off those stock spark plug sockets OR its these new JBA wires. I just ordered MSD wires which have a lot more feed back from customers

Must.... Resist urge.... To. .... Hate on what.... Other people like..... Even... If... It... Is... Universally Annoying....

Couldn't do it. Maybe the cops with their exhaust crack down will solve the problem.

What confuses me is these 1000's of youtube videos of brand new stock 2017, 2018 stock SS sounding louder and popping more with just a rev just like mine used to. those arent "broken" or have "poor part conditions" yet they make those sounds.

Fine, you broke the car. Is that what you wanted to hear? Trade it in and ask the dealer to sell you their loudest popper.

LOL @ thinking bad plug wires will make an exhaust crackle and pop less. Just keep throwing money at it, that'll break it, err I mean fix it.
