I do turn the steering wheel to the left and right, I just don't take corners as if I'm auto crossing. I wish any tire would work, but with 550rwtq on the Sumitomo HTR Z IIIs it came with... no. Which is why I'm hoping some others will chime in on the tires I mentioned or another sticky tire for the street. Thankfully I've had 2 people so far at least.

Well the three you listed are all really good.

I think you gotta put some heat in the R888r's to make them really effective.

RE-71R are really nice, and the 4s is really nice. What size wheels?

It's just the stock 20"x9.5" SS wheels. I'm shooting for a 285/35.

I've read a lot about those 3, and they all come in that size, but like everything else, there are good reviews and bad. Some say those 3 hook great with 700-800 horsepower cars, others say they don't. What do you have on the ZL1 rears? I know they're 11" (if you are still stock) Do they hook up well?

I'm using the stock goodyear supercar 3's, they hook pretty well. I might do the R888r's when they wear out though, but 315 is a tad wide. So we'll see. I keep hoping they will make a 305

The car gets up to 120 quick, however, I have no interest in staying at high speeds for long periods of time. I just want to be able to put the power down when I want or need to and not have to feather the throttle constantly. So, do you have any thoughts on the actual question? As in the tires that I listed. Any recommendations? Or are you just oddly interested in what I do with this car?
I can read it a million times. Still dont change the fact you are all over the place and make no sense. Kinda hard to pick a tire choice when you drive an avg.of 1 mile a day.

Ah well

Nice. The R888r's are still at the top of my list so far, with all the reviews I've read and a video I saw on YouTube of 2 guys comparing them to MT S/S's and the Nitto 555Rs. One with a 650rwhp Mustang and the other guy with an 850rwhp Mustang. The R888rs definitely hooked well in the video.

if you haven't seen it or care to check it out.

It would be nice if they had more size options though, I agree.

I want tires with great traction on dry roads for when I drive this car.

Yes, I know that is all over the place and makes no sense. My apologies for confusing you.

Whether it's a mile a day or 1000 miles a day, what difference does that make? I want it to have solid traction.

The real question is how do you only do 300 miles a year? That's like one weekend at the race track

Well it isn't an exact number, but not too far off. I have quite a few rides and just take whichever one out that I'm feeling that day, or for certain situations. Like if it calls for a truck to haul something, or if the weather is stormy, or if I'm feeling like cruising around a beach with a convertible, or "romping" around the city a little.

All together I'll drive an average of about 5-6000k a year combined. Mainly coming from the "beater" which is just a cadillac cts sedan. (not the cts-v)

Well, I'm about to get some sleep, but if anyone is currently running any of these or have used the tires I listed, please let me know how they are/where. Thanks!

I had the Nitto NT05s in stock size with stock power. They are pretty grippy but you will still get some slippage since its not a drag tire. They lasted about 6k maybe 7k miles if I remember correctly. This time I went with Nitto NT555 G2 in a 285/35 becuase I wanted more life out of the tires and to see if a bigger size would help grip. So far after about 2k miles I have noticed the 555s are close to grippiness to the NT05 and the wear is better. The only drawback I have noticed is the sidewall seems to be a little soft and feels like the backend floats under hard acceleration, didnt notice this with the NT05. Just my .02. Good Luck!

When I put new tires on my SS last year I went with stock size on the front because of MRC and 285/35 on the rear. They are around an inch bigger than the stock size 275/35 and seem to give a little more traction. I bought Continental Extreme Contact Sports and really like them so far. The speedo is off about 1 mph according to the tire size website.

Tires

I had Nitto 555Rs on my 2016 Camaro and they would/did not dead hook on the street. They might have with a little burnout heat, but I never abused my car like that and never street race. But, on the drag strip they dead hooked and my amateur 60 foot times were awesomely good, but the 8A in my 2SS was just an awesome drag race car. Sometimes wish I had it back because I know my 1le won't satisfy on the drag strip...and that's ok.
