Cam Motion has an excellent lobe design and are very well engineered cams. I'd give them a call and tell them what you are looking for. The best way to go about cam selection is to ask the experts who manufacture and sell them. Taking a cam poll on the internet is the worst way to select a cam.

cam, lifters spring and heads will be next winters project this year adding headers and tune to my 95 mm tb ported stock I/m and rotofab dry I will be deleting afm liters I wish I understood the relation ship of all the cam science but I don't, I feel this car should keep making power to 6500 and I feel its a little soft in the middle I don't want to lose drivability or much if any torque downstairs. I am NOT trying to make maximum horse power but clearly looking for gains hopefully across the board, I am trying to get motor the way I think it should be.. I had done a 383 n my 97 ram air lt1 and I did the lt4 hot cam back then and I loved it.. |

I don't think they type of valve spring will play a big roll in the life of the cam phaser. The phaser is on the front of the cam sprocket...RPM will play the biggest roll. If you plan on spinning above 6800rpm then it's best to delete it.

A gen 3 383 LT1 with a Hot-cam doesn't make near the power or torque that a gen 5 LT1 does. I had a 383 LT1 with a 230/236 114 cam. The heads and Intake were ported by LPE. It ran good but it's still not close to this engine. These engines make 480-500whp with bolt-ons and E85. Nothing before it comes close except the LS7.

A nice aspect to Cam Motion is that their lobe design does not beat the snot out of your valve train, so you can get away with a little more lift. I switched to a Cam Motion cam in my 2005 GTO and although "larger"than the Comp cam it replaced, the drivability was much improved (and I stopped breaking rocker arms!)

Hi All, any thoughts on the cam from the L8P create engine?
https://www.chevrolet.com/performanc...te-engines/l8p Described as an LT2 Cam without AFM. Part #12736191. Camshaft Lift .549" / .549" Dur. @ 0.050" 218°/231° Lobe Separation Angle 121° https://sdparts.com/i-24531344-chevr...-camshaft.html Maybe worth a little power bump while deleting DOD and retaining good street manners? |

oh and ported MSD and bigger TB is definitely the way to go NA IMO, I never had a LT2 intake so I can't comment; but for several years I had a NA setup full build with ported MSD and a 7100 to 7350 fuel cut (forget now I'm old) and it was a really sweat setup especially on E85. Fuel cut was only so I could do 0 - 60 in first gear bragging rights only as the manual LT1 losses 1/2 second on the shift and the ZL1 can actually hit 60 in first.... Needless to say it was kind of fun seeing how fast a camaro m6 on street tires can do 0 to 60, hint it is faster NA full build than FI.... I'm sure with 00 DR or slicks and / or prep track it would be different. I won't say what I could do with a NA M6 on street tires... as I'd be called every name in the book. LOL.
I'm backed to FI now and the rev limiter is at 6900 so unless I score a Zl1 trans, my 0 - 60 days are over as the car is a handful to ever launch, which it can't, it is more like ease into it on a clutch slip and never go to WOT or you will get sideways, granny shift ease out the clutch and apply power but no WOT not yet or you will go sideways, wait for it and sometime in third you can actually WOT if the road is smooth, straight and dry... but I have had the car get squilley even in 3rd... NA was no lift shift and bang away especially above 2nd gear, with DR 100 wear I could bang no lift shift NA 1s to 2nd with just some wiggle out the back... actually kind of scary... near stock M6 no lift shift was fun all gears, sometimes I miss that. Long story short my favorite setup to date no holds barred: NA max build with a reasonable cam on E85, my least fun setup was large lift cam, ported heads, p1x supercharger, with marginal fueling... cam died and till the LPE HP pump and injectors and DSX second fuel pump I could never really use the breathing provided by the cam, heads and headers.

I do like low lift cams for longevity.

Although I would have thought the L8P would have made a little more power than it did given the 218/231 duration. I bet it will idle very close to stock with that LSA though and still pull good at high rpms. The duration though is way higher than the LT2 cam from what it looks like. |

cam motion truck cam 206 / 214 on 110 LCA with LT1 lift and uses LT1 springs not bad for a little more power and strong midrange torque. Bet it can be had with a fuel lobe for mild supercharger apps. Not ideal LCA but OK for supercharger, not for turbo..
