HRE Wheels | The Birth of the HRE RS309 Wheel from Start to Finish
![]() We followed a set of HRE RS309 Wheels in production and took some photos during the process. * Rim parts are pulled, forgings are lathed, and everything is placed onto a cart so we can keep track of their progress. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What you see below is so we can limit how much mass the wheel has. *More pockets, less weight! * ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Center Forgings jump onto our Horizontal mills to get their design cut ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now we start the process of de-burring the wheel, smoothing it out and then getting that into our polisher! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Onto Polishing! ![]() Nice and shiny!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() After we clean up the centers after their polishing, we bring them over to powdercoat ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Out from powder! *First stage of powdercoat is shot, second stage will be the Satin Clear Coat to turn this into our Frozen Polished Bronze finish ![]() ![]() ![]() Second stage of powder is applied and now you can see they're Satin in this photo ![]() ![]() ![]() Assembly starting. *First things first, remove the cover on the backpad. *Backpads should never be powdercoated as that alters the offset which was machined. * ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fasteners going in! *We're in the home stretch! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Blue tape on the lip to protect it from scratches. ![]() ![]() ![]() And that's it! *We have a complete set of HRE RS309's! *Once it's all said and done, the Polished Bronze outer and that Frozen Polished Bronze center really work for each other. *We want to know what you think! *Here's the completed wheel! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks for taking a look! *What do you think of the RS309? *You like our color combo choice? |

Thank you for sharing with us, you have an amazing facility and impressive arsenal of equipment. I own/operate a CNC machining business in the Midwest and love to see products like this. To be honest I would almost feel guilty bolting those on to my car, driving down the street and getting them dirty, I could however hang one on the wall to look at. Seeing the level of detail and amount of engineering that goes into these wheels makes them art.
