Car Show: Sore Loser (Me)
Took my car up to a car show this past weekend, as my buddy was entering his. Wasn't expecting to win anything, just something to do.
When I got there, there were only 2 other Camaro's in the "Modern Camaro" category. They were both bone stock white 5th Gen SS's - nice cars, but neither had a thing done to them to stand out, and neither were particularly clean (one actually had no tire dressing/dirty tires). I stuck around the entire day because I figured I had at least a 1st or 2nd trophy coming to me - not because my car is the greatest Camaro around, but in this instance, my car was immaculate and have done a lot more than my competition. When they announced the awards - the 2010 and 2011 took the prizes and I was left standing there like an idiot Was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? I don't know what goes in to the voting but everyone was coming up to me like WTF. I went from just having a good time to being a sore loser!!!

Sometimes it's not what you have but who you know. Might be a popularity contest. Or the judges were just blind. Stock for Stock no 5th gen should ever beat out a 6th gen. Even if yours had mud all over except for the windshield wiper paths and theirs were showroom shined. The 5th gens to me are pretty boring looking compared to the 6th gen.

Did you have the hood open for judging? I know a lot of the shows i go to wont judge you if the hood is closed.

At least your car shows have categories that make sense.
The local show here that started out like 6 years ago has like 4 categories, two of them are like pre 1963 and post 1963. So you know a 6th gen Camaro isn't going to stand a chance going against anything newer than 1963. I've been on the car show "board" for a couple of years helping out, (not anymore, maybe they didn't like my opinions?) but they don't want to charge anything for entry nor do they want to have real trophies or plaques, just some homemade junk. Like a license plate with spark plugs screwed into it for hanging your keys. Cool stuff. I'd really enjoy driving 80 miles in my $50,000 show car to come out and win some garbage. /rant

Mako- Car looks great. I am not a fan of your side stripes that start over the front wheels. It takes away from the lines... this is personal opinion of course. You detail very well.
Keep it up...

Just the luck of the draw or a change they have friends in the department. Around my area our newer cars were frowned upon. In the end I go to have fun I could careless if I win an award I have far too many and they just sit in boxes or end up in the trash.
