Firehawk Indy 500 40 Series Tires

I had Discount Tire order me some Firestone Indy 500 tires. Instead of ordering 245/40R20 and 275/35R20 they ordered 245/45R20 and 275/40R20. They let me know when I got there, but I didn't think my Runflats could made it another mile around the block so I had them put them on. The new tire is in total an inch taller. I think the car rides better honestly, but in the back of my mind I made a mistake now. Is the 3.8% difference in tire going to make a huge difference in acceleration and braking? I don't race the car and it is strictly a daily driver, but the thought of hindering performance kills me.

I wouldn't worry about any perceptible performance hit.

It wont hurt performance, it will help with bump compliance. May want to make sure it doesnt rub in the rear and damage the harness that is back there.

It will throw your speedo and odometer off though.

The Indy 500s are cheap and have great reviews, we just put a set on a 4th gen we got back together and so far really liking them.

For much higher cost.

The 500s perform much higher than their low cost suggests

The sizes they ordered are for Gen5.

They are idiots.

I ran the 500s on my Mustang GT/PP and they're phenomenal, especially in the price which comes from the Firestone name which if they were marked as the Bridgestone RE003 (which they are) you'd be paying more for them.

I did some searching on the forums before I got them and everyone raved about them. $800 installed out the door wasn't bad and it rides nice.

That explains it. He was probably looking at my 2011 SS in the system.

Thanks for the feed back everyone. I think the performance is all in my head. These tires hook a lot better than the run flats. Also the tire feels the fender up making it look like the car is lowered. EXCEPT the car sits up .5" higher now lol

That's a serious F up on their part they need to fix that and not have you be OK with it. As stated your speedo and more importantly odometer are going to be off due to the tire height differences. I haven't run the sizes to see but what if for every half mile you travel the odo ticks off 3/4 of a mile? Think about it. Or the other way around?
