Just ordered 11 quarts from gmpartsgiant.com. Five minutes later I got an email saying my order was cancelled.

“Your order has been voided because of the following reason(s): The ordered part(s) have been discontinued (no longer available) and/or is backordered with no ETA date by the manufacture.”

Hrm.

I placed an order with gmpartsdirect.com ( fingers crossed )

Yes it surely appears GM has decided to replace generic 5w30 with something that qualifies for both street and track for these cars as stock that dealers can offer as today they dont offer ANY oil that qualifies. But it doesnt mean other 0w40 or 5w40 dexos 2 oils lack in anyway vs the new "corporate " Mobil 1 offering.

All it means if one brings a Vette or a Camaro to a GM dealer they will now fill it with Mobil 1 0w40 vs generic 5w30. And charge MUCH more for an oil change, regardless whether one tracks the car or not.

purchased 11 bottles from my local dealer. just told them part numbers. didnt give them a vin puposely. Cap #12686472 should arrive tomorrow.

I tried too, no luck :( and my baby got 550 miles already,
I think I will use currently available one until 1500miles.
I can change to new one m1 0w-40 later with no consequences right??? Only if I get on somewhere.

11 quarts of Valvoline MST 5W-40 arrived from Amazon on Tuesday. Couldn’t wait any longer. :(

I need an oil change and dont know what to use. Local dealer cant get the new stuff. Everyone else is B/O. This is frustrating. I guess I will have to do the Mobil 1 dexos 5w-30?

If you will track on this oil then run 5W40 Motul x-clean 8100. You can find it on amazon. If you aren't tracking the car, the 5w-30 is plenty for street and spirited drives.

I would stay away from Valvoline.
MOBILE 1 is what i have run for decades with zero issues.

I went to my local dealer and I was able to purchase the 1 liter version. They had 124 liters in stock.
