1LE track wheels .... MMR?
I brought my 1LE, brought it home and put MP4s tires on it. I love them on the street. I have the stock 3R tires and plan on trailering to a couple of tracks this summer. probably Salt lake and Vegas. I want a set of track wheels. I know MMR make replicas, but am unsure of the side loading. what is the best 19" wheels to buy?

Don't get MRR's, they don't offer anything in the stock size. I would get another set of OEM wheels or a custom forged set. I have two OEM wheel sets and a set from BC Forged. One has PS4's, the other two have different track tires.

MRR are only 20". 19" are preferable.

Those aren’t the same specs as OEM, why do that?

Seems like 19 opens up to more tire selections and while MMR will not be as strong as a forged wheel just inspect em after each Trackday for cracks.

The 19" MMRs are NOT 19x11 and 19x12 like Factory OEM ZL1 1LE wheels. They're narrower and made to fit on regular SS/ZL1s. If you want 19" wheels in ZL1 1LE spec, you're going to have to go aftermarket completely unless you just want to buy another OEM set which is going to run $2500-$3000.

flow forging is not forging... it takes a cast wheel and then the manufacturer does a process to it to get it to its final size and shape on the barrel. The spokes are still cast.
Its an in between straight cast and full forged. I can almost guarantee the 19" MMR wheels are heavier than the factory 20" fully forged wheels or at least the same weight. |

I'm running 19x10.5 and 19x11 with 305/30 and 325/30. works fine on the ZL1.

Most OEM wheels are heavier due to having to meet lots of standards and safety/crash testing. A true Forged aftermarket wheel is going to be around 20-25 pounds for these cars. I bet some of the manufacturers can make them even less. Cast replicas are going to be heavier than OEM, but would you notice? Probably not. |
