18 ZL1 Ticking Sound While Cornering

While driving through a canyon today with the windows down I noticed a ticking sound while cornering. Has anyone else noticed anything similar? Thoughts/advice is appreciated.

Wheel hub corrosion.

1. Remove wheel
2. Clean wheel and hub mating surface very well (wire brush, etc.)
3. apply thin layer of lithium grease.
4. Torque to spec (140 ft-lbs).

Thanks for the advice. The car only has 850 miles...but maybe corrosion from sitting after being built?

It's not unusual for ZL1's. Mine did it within a few hundred miles. It's a known issue. I took it in to the dealer and they cleaned and reseated the wheel. No problems for the 8000 miles since then.

Thanks for the help everyone! So far absolutely loving the car. Drove the Angeles Crest Highway today with a friend of mine in his e92 M3 and his 17 year old son. After his son rode in the ZL1 he said "your car sucks dad, you should get a Camaro"

Angeles crest is a blast in the ZL1. One of my favorite cruising spots

Yes, that worked for me too. Noise never came back.

Before you take the wheels off, I would just check the torque spec on the wheels themselves. It is not uncommon for some of these cars to have the wheels taken off at the dealership. It is also possible that they simply weren't torqued correctly.

Try making sure your wheels are torqued to 140. They always tell you to check again in a couple weeks...

Unfortunately this saga continues. It's now been to the dealer twice. The first time it was schedule the "suspension guy" wasn't working that day. Took it back in today and they say they can't duplicate the noise...which I find hard to believe since the car reliably does it.

Their advice--just keep driving the car and maybe bring it back some day so that one of them can ride with me to hear it.

Anyone know of any good Chevy dealers in the Southern California (San Fernando Valley) area? I'm quickly losing confidence in my local dealer's service department.

Have you done exactly what this posts instructed you to do? It will solve the issue. Do that. Report back your great success (Borat voice).

All the above is correct. Its more than likely just a dirty wheel hub or the lugs arent tightened up to spec. I had the same problem, twice, and took it to the dealership, twice, once they just cleaned the wheel hub and it was fine, the other time they took a torque wrench and saw they were at about 110.

Both times the clicking started happening when i went to replace my tires at my local tire shop after getting some flats.
