e85 Question
This has probably been discussed but I was hoping for some quick clarification. Can someone please tell me why e60 is the magic number for fi cars that do not have a cam? I have LT4 hpfp, injectors and the DSX aux pump and the car is handling e60 just fine. Why do things go south beyond that and what should I be looking at in hp tuners to confirm things are in line? I believe the station I fill up at pumps e70 and it would be nice to not have to blend.

I am trying to figure the same thing out right now. I was also looking st the disc aux pump and wondering if it would really work without the bigger cam lobe...watching.

It’s a volume issue. The higher the E content (and HP), the more volume required. You’ll want to monitor high and low fuel pressure, but I don’t know what pressure numbers you should be looking for specifically.

i believe more ethanol will result in more power. e85 will give you more power than e60 for given boost level. this is due to the oxygen in the fuel.
that being said e60 will give you enough octane to run much higher boost than pump gas if you are octane limited. often people need the octane but do not have the fuel system to go full e85. as the ethanol percent goes up so does the fuel flow. i say run as much ethanol as your fuel system allows. e85 on bolt on car is a no brainer and you see huge gains. i built a big fuel system so i can run as much ethanol as i want. i run whatever comes out of the pump and it reads between e70 and e85.

It seems to me that if I can run e85 at 9-10psi then I should be in the 650hp range. I am trying to get an estimate to go ahead and install cam and pistons now and depending on the time and $, I may choose to take that path now which should be good for 700-750rwhp. That would be the end of the line for me...other than cosmetic changes.
