I managed to get it there while having a baby, doing my parental duties, and trying to be a responsible adult. Again, this was what I could afford at the time. Quote:
The point is, why mod something for 10-15k when I can put that money into something already built with more power and with a warranty? Again, this isn't about knocking you or anyone else. I wanted something more, I found a way to get it. For some, 150hp is enough... for some, doing 45 mph is enough... I like being able to go fast...and hear some whine...

It's all good, as said, the V6 Gen6 is a fine sports car, and I get why people would buy it. The V6 Camaro's from my formative years sucked..what we have now is so much more. |

I suspect that the 'handling' side of your perspective is closer to the English perspective of 50 - 60 years ago, where the roads were mostly not straight and where nimbleness as a car characteristic was prized. Most US domestic enthusiasts tend to see this from the other direction, where nimbleness traditionally wasn't given much value (and certainly not when compared with the appeal of big engine displacements/big power/roaring exhausts/screeching tires). It's still an uphill battle. FWIW I'd pick the smooth wail of a free-revving V6 over all of those sounds associated with a turbocharger every single time. Even, I think, over the mildly choppy rumble of a crossplane V8, now that that sound has become the hallmark of lifted pickups. Over a proper flat-plane crank V8, probably not - but you should realize that 'proper' excludes the current GT350's Voodoo unless maybe you're running it with true 4 into 1 headers. In case you're wondering, I actually did live through the muscle car era (possibly all of it so far). I knew a couple of sports car race drivers back in the mid-1960's, so I think it might be more a mindset thing than generational to pick lightness and balance over bulk and brute power. Norm

Almost 2 years ago, I tried to convince myself that I would be happy with a V6 Camaro RS with a 6 speed manual and dual mode exhaust. I figured with 335 HP it would be enough for me. So, I went ahead and ordered one. It was a great looking car and performed well, but I always regretted not spending the extra for a SS. Long story short, I now have a Camaro SS and it is so much more fun! If you are on the fence between a V6 and V8.....go with the V8...you will be glad you did!

OK here's one. I owned a 2014 C7, a 2013 SS V8, and bought a 2016 Camaro V6. Why? because it's a DD, and I don't need the horsepower, or the premium gas, or the break neck acceleration, A v6 just does fine. I've never regretted the decision. |

Listen guys. All the engines are great. If you’re mature and practical in your approach to choosing a camaro for yourself you’ll be happy with whatever you choose. However... if the thought of a V8 camaro crosses your mind, then you won’t be happy with “settling.”
A fully loaded 2SS with under 10k miles can be had for the same price as a new RS. Increased gas cost and insurance are negligible if you’re looking @ $30k cars and have a clean driving record. 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder guys, if you are happy you shouldnt have to justify your choice. To me, that just looks like buyers remorse. I’ve never driven the 4 banger, but the v6 sounds great, and is a quick pony. The v6 1le is just fantastic. I wouldn’t mind the v6 1le one bit, and that’s coming from a guy who daily drives his SS every day of the year, no hibernation.

I’m quite sure there are a lot of SS owners up to their eyeballs in debt with a $800 a month payment and a maxed out credit card for mods wishing they would have got the V6. But you won’t hear them admit it on here.
