I had the opportunity to take her out for a spin, just long enough to get the transmission temp past 100°.

I couldn't tell a "night and day" difference, but I could tell a difference.

Cold notchy shifts felt like the edges were smother, less sharp. Regular shifts just slightly smoother. 2nd-3rd NLS was clean and smooth. Man this car hauls ass.

If your bored and want to tackle this project, it won't hurt. To go out of your way to do it, like I did, I wouldn't recommend it. Just my .02.

Seriously, we’ve almost gone a whole day without any posts?

Well here’s something.

Wish me luck, I’m performing my first oil change on my own in almost 25 years.

Used to do it all the time. Then I guess I got lazy. Let the dealers have all the fun.

Damn nation! 25 years?! I've never let anyone change my oil since my first vehicle hahahaha. I'm paranoid like that. OCD requires that I know what oil and filter go in and on my car.

Good luck Ric, it will be gratifying.

I am starting to get that way. The service seems to get worse the older I get!

Thanks Heath!

At the risk of opening a can of worms....

Trying to narrow down what exactly to use. Leaning toward Mobil 1 but there’s like three different varieties. I don’t track the car so... I’ve never really looked at the Viscosity Indexes before. Dexos1 is obviously a must, and I’m NOT getting whatever’s on sale.
I’ve read about the new Dexos2 but it’s not yet available anywhere I’ve looked locally.

I welcome suggestions. BTW, I spent most of last weekend on the Mechanical Maintenance thread. I’m probably getting to wrapped around the axle.

Yeah, I know.

Lacking the tools and the space for too long. But admitting I have a problem is the first step, right?

yea step 1.

Don't worry about the oil. As you said your'e not tracking get 10L 5W30 Dexos1. Get the right AC Delco oilfilter (PF64) and a new drain screw. Thats it. When you open the drain screw watch out the oil spills out in a great arc.
