Can a tuner lock your ECM?
So to say the least I’ve always preferred a local tuner just Incase something goes wrong with the car I can take it to them fairly quickly. My tuner does lock the ECM to keep outside tuners from messing with the tune, I can easily have them reset to stock and take it to someone else but is that even the case with these new 6th gens? I’ve heard our ECMs can’t be locked?
If I went with a remote tuner, do I have to buy HPTuners to receive the email tune and to install that tune? Needless to say everyone has their opinion on tuners locking everyone out but we all have our opinion. I’m just thinking outside the box and have recently became interested in seeing what my car is capable of with other tuners out there.
