What kind of oil are you running for most of these setups?
LOL, I guess you could say that.

I run Royal Purple normally. This car has Amzoil.

Do you recommend stock weights for NA cars? I'm not sure what the LT1 stock clearances are like

i don't drive mine but 2k miles a year so added compression is not a problem other than if i took it on the power tour or something.
With your current knowledge, what is your suggested setup for a situation as far as parts and type of mods to get there?
9.2 to 9.3 DCR with proper timing is fine for pump gas.

Parts and mods to get where? I must not be understanding your question.

i guess i didnt really understand what i was asking...

Theoretically if you get to the 9.3 DCR and do all the supporting mods whats your goal to be at once tuned? what would make you happy if it was a car you were working on?

Congrats! The power is incredible. I hope he brings it to the track. If he is able to trap mid 130s, this would be the route I would want to take.

Mid 130's N/A??

Yes, this package in Troy's car in the same DA he ran his other bests in should trap low to mid 130's N/A.

I could easily see this setup running low 10's and trapping mid 130's. The stock convertor will let this setup eat on mph! I could see the added power from the hit putting a car that regularly goes 1.5's into the 1.4's

Pray have you had a chance to test a 103 TB on any heads cam builds ?

Do you think it would be worth anything ? When I built my ls3 the jury was split. And some thought driveability and tuning would be hindered

Would be cool if you could test one against a ported unit on a heads cam car...if you haven’t already

He might point out the velocity with a 103mm tb being potentially detrimental to throttle response and low end grunt. Me thinks if you were boosted or only wanted to pick up on the back half of the track, you might see some improvement. But if it only lives for the 1320 then, by all means.

I have not tested one yet. If you or anyone wants to send me one I will test it. I have heard from some reputable shops that it was worth 10+rw over a stock TB on some of their H/C cars. I was also told that it actually helped drivability and throttle response. But, that was tested against a stock TB. I am not sure what it would give over my ported stuff.

I would have to look into the tuning side as well as far as sizing the TB cross section properly. I can't see it hurting though. I think I did the math and it is something like an extra 1,400 sqmm of cross section area. But I don't know how that much blade area will react with a cam. The old minimum TB trimming steps were 4mm so on a cam car the 102's could make surging worse. Some people would drill a hole to smooth out the air flow and keep the overlap pull under the 4mm step. It is all hard to tell till I got one dialed in.

When properly ported I have not seen the stock TB pose a restriction yet to the hp levels I have been able to achieve, but it doesn't mean there are not gains there. I have one of my ported versions on a blower car that is making around 1,200rw. I understand that is an F/I car though so it doesn't really count.
