G2 Caliper Paint

I finally decided to try and paint my calipers while I have some free time, but have not been able to find G2 caliper paint at my local Autozone or O'rileys.

Anyone have any insight on where I can pick some up? I did find VHT spray and a Dupli-Color kit, which looked similar to the G2 setup. Has anyone used the Dupli-Color brush on kit before?

I painted miine red, white and blue. I did 2 coats of 3 kinds of paint. Rustoleum red, G2 White and POR15 blue. The Rustoleum was the easiest to work with. The POR15 went on the smoothest and most even. The G2 was difficult.

If I was to do it all over again I would get them professionally powder coated. If you’ want to do it yourself I recommend a high heat aerosol paint. The G2 came out okay but the finish isn’t exactly as glossy as I would have liked and came out kinda tacky feeling. Also a pain in the ass to avoid drips when applying something with a brush.

lol, wow I wasn't expecting this much of a variance in products to use for this. Guess this isn't something i'll tackle today and I'll have to do some more research first.

I went G2 for the 3 time in my life and I'm still satisfied with their product. Don't use the brush they provide and you'll be okay.
I went a step further and ordered the kit to color match my cars body color (Blue Velvet Metallic) and it is a perfect match. You can see the metal flake in the paint and it's spot on. By using a better brush I was able to have a nice smooth finish, high gloss and it's perfect in my opinion. I took my time, set the car on stands, cleaned the calipers, taped up as warranted and did light coats until the job was done.

Next day I put silver decals (BREMBO CAMARO) on and was good to go.

Any particular brush(s) you recommend?

Thanks

Not off the top. I spent like close to $5 on a brush that was advertised not to loose bristles and may have been animal hair. It was soft and touch, feel and pulling it I knew it was a good brush.

Instructions say recommended.

It also says that the regular braking temperatures would bake the paint as you drove around...but I didn't want to chance any debris or dust contaminating the paint job, and since the calipers were already off the car, I opted just to bake them. 1hr @ 200 deg.

NICE!

I'm probably going to go with G2 as well. I just need to order a kit now that I feel comfortable with the product

How long did you G2 guys wait after applying to drive the car? How long did you wait between coats as well?

I don't have jack stands, so I am guessing I'm going to have to do one wheel at at a time.
